I've had one of these for 20+ years, lent it to a skipper who had hid limner holes plugged on a new to him boat, turn out there was a t shirt in the bilge stopping the flow. I always bring one with me on deliveries, good back up.

A great corrugated hose for a portable pump can be bought at a pool supply store. I have a 1.5 inch pool vacuumed hose, very cooperative
