In this video I go over Ford Modular Thrust Bearings, the proper orientation to install them and how to properly "set the thrust". Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far. I will be trying my best to do as many tech tip videos as I can.

I have the 4.6 aluminum Teksid and just realized taking the motor apart, the shop had the washer for the iron block. Glad I watched this just because before I put it all back together.

Thanks for putting this up. There isn't much information out there on the coyote thrust bearing even in the Ford Service manual. On my first Coyote I had a heck of a time figuring out what to do with the thrust washer.

@cruisingsociety576
@cruisingsociety576 2 ай бұрын
Some not all 3v iron Romeo blocks are actually 2v blocks reused from the 2000-2004 or so I’ve heard also I have one apart rn doing final assembly and parts for it aftermarket were the 2v 4.6 Romeo ones like the main bearings nothing else I ordered for the make and model or any 3v iron Windsor block wouldn’t work and we all know aluminum ones are very different so that wasn’t a choice at all and actually now that I remember only king bearing and modular head shop is the only place I could find this info on their site . other than one person on a forum about a whole different subject maybe more info I couldn’t find with key words in search engine

I thought I had bad thrust bearings until I saw your video! My crank walks close to an inch when I apply throttle. What could this be? All I'm told is the engine is bad. Also, this is the second (different) engine to do this on my 97 Ford 4.2L automatic.

Is it possible to replace the thrust washers with the engine still installed in the vehicle? I have a 2007 5.4 3 valve and the thrust washers have not failed. But at over 200,000 miles I understand they are prone to failure and I'm considering preemptively replacing them while I have the oil pan off to clean up after a timing problem. Thanks

Is it ok to run the blower cams for the 5.4L 2v for a while until I install the blower?
@ExcessiveMotorsports
@ExcessiveMotorsports 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely bud. We have plenty of customers that do that. It will move the torque band up slightly but no big deal. The blower cams will have better drivability as well, do to the wider lsa.

No. Some do not have the ledge. That is not a problem as the flanged bearing on the cap will keep the washer from spinning once everything is assembled
