Actually it seems like using the derivative function in table mode only works on the TI-36X PRO. The derivative function is unavailable in table mode in the CASIO 115ES+, CASIO ClassWiz and Sharp EL-W516T. So even those other calculators are equivalent in power to the TI-36XPRO, the TI beats all the others in that it still allows calculus function keys to be used in table mode.

TI must have upgraded their 36X in recent years. I bought mine when it first came out and the table and function editor are not as capable working together as the one you have. I follow stroke for stroke and my table and function editor don't work with your example. It is a good thing I have a Casio Fx-991EX. It will do what my 36X won't.

You can only calculate the derivative at a specific value of x. No general derivatives. Sorry.
