Great video! I'm looking for a tablet that is good for writing on pdf files... I study medicine and I want something to take notes while the teacher is speaking so I can study later.. it needs to be fast, almost like I'm writing on paper. I've been doing that on my phone but its not working great. Laptop isn't great for that either so I'm looking for a tablet.. iPad is to expensive for me at the moment and the xiomi pad 5 fits my budget but I want to be sure its a good choice. Your language keys would come "on" but the keys have to be memorized. I've got the muscle memory since the Windows for workgroups 3.11 days 😁 I'd buy the keyboard.

@@randreas69 I'm not Norwegian but Finnish, but yeah I guess I could go by it since I don't look at the keyboard either. It's just the fact that I dislike the smaller enter key really and some keys are located differently because of that towards the right side of the keyboard. I wouldn't mind as much if it was just blank key caps like in das keyboard for example.

@@vesanius1 For an actual keyboard I'd prefer a proper mechanical type, the touch pad also gives me the willies on a laptop. As I'm in Linux I would be very familiar with the english layout since I use Gentoo and such. So yeah you Finnar are cool to.

@@tredfxman Obviously I've refered to the Windows 3 of the 80s (yes I'm that old) and if someone had played a game and deleted the config.sys then the keyboard would return to the English layout. So I've kept a book page out to look up the English setup. The asterisk moves and if I could find the back slash I could type up config.sys again and continue my day. So the setup sits with me. Also the old game is found at SDLPop so that's a blast from the past.

Yeah, HRMI out is indeed a miss. Looks like XIaomi stay away from wired video output on most of their devices, including smartphones.

Nice tablet and great tips! But I have a different question this time... I'm thinking of getting a tablet, but I want something, well with the best experience sort of, here are my thoughts of usage (and yes I'm probably asking those not for the first time but still haven't decided) first of all I'm not sure if I want a Windows or Android tablet, personally I'm ok with either of them... The needs are mostly regular browsing, writing (a keyboard is a must!) some work (both systems will do here for me) some photo editing (lightroom works on both as well) and rarely some video editing which I probably will just remote into my home PC. I'm kind of going between Samsung Tab S8 (not sure regular or plus), or maybe Microsoft surface, or maybe something else? The thing is, I will use that tablet here and there, the tablet probably will be mostly used by my Mom though... any suggestions?

Dima, you probably would be surprised by my answer, but I'd root for an iPad here. iPad Air with M1 has just been announced and it will be a game-changer. If you totally disagree with this idea - then the Xiaomi Pad 5 is also quite good. My son has a Samsung tablet (different line though) and I am somehow not that impressed. Perhaps the S8 is a lot better, I don't know.... On the other hand - S8 FE may be an awesome choice. Or even the older S7 FE.

@@TechMishka for me the ipad won't good as I totally don't use their echo system and I just got the company I work for to replace my mac for a Dell. I just don't like what apple does at least in terms of software to the extent that it's not usable for me at all. Samsung tablets are good, I just played with the S7 and S7+ the other day, except the TFT screen on the smaller model (same for the S8) everything looks good. I would consider the S8 FE but it's older and I prefer something as powerful as possible for longevity. I'll check the Xiaomi pad 5 again though usually I'm not a fan of the Chinese devices as they after pretty short time don't work that well

@@DimusTech thats not true for Xiaomi devices tho, if anything they last the longest out of any brand even beating Apple. Im actually using the xiaomi mi3 i bought in 2013 and everything still works great and its not even slow and battery is still good. Definitely recommend Xiaomi devices

@@Tionic929 only fot certain phones I think. I wont take the risk to flash a non-native Linux-distro/ROM on my new tablet. But Android litetally is Linux, Linux is "only" just the kernel of the OS. But ofc Id like to put a proper Linux desktop on it, maybe I could at some point. A tablet is just a computer as is our phones. The MIUI is pretty bad for tablets, its great on phones but I feel they just upscaled the phone-version of it and didnt do that much else to it.

There is an exit button. Keep in mind that the new MIUI versions no longer support it, but they have brought some enhancements so that it feels almost the same even without it.

I've been checking on this one for so long now, I think nearly a year. However the prices is just a killer - around £370 for the tablet alone from the UK store in London, another well over£100 for the keyboard and pen. No doubt it's a great tablet including for Harman Kardon speakers but the price is yelling. It's very unfortunate that Xiaomi started steering heavily into the Samsung price range. Also I'm not quite sure that they are settled into the global market and I think they're pushing it a bit too much lately. Hopefully this is not going to end up as LeEco.

It's not possible to connect an external display to USB-C via a single USB-C to HDMI cable peripheral. The review suggests it's possible - would be interested to see that working. For me that's a deal breaker as it's a basic requirement for presentations. In meeting rooms wireless displays, most of the time, are scarce. Even Xiaomi seem to hide the technical specs of USB-C 2.0 port, when a 3.0 / 3.1 is required for connecting an external display...

Does it still have widevine issue? Kept reading about that problem to the point they would just recommend the iPad 9 over this tablet but I don't like iPad because I'm gonna be playing a lot of emulator games on android.

Yes, but you will need a projector that supports Chromecast. There is no video output via the USB port.
