Thanks for the video. My problem is, connection to the laptop. I entered the ip of the dvr in the browser and the hikvision log in page appeared. I entered username and password and the live view page opened but there was no video meanwhile the live view on the tv was showing

The video port is not opened by your network provider. This method requires port forwarding and opening the TCP & UDP ports in order to have video displayed.

It would not work, because cameras with BNC terminal are Analogue cameras of which the NVR is strictly used in Digital or IP camera installations. The AHD or analogue high Definition cameras cannot work on NVRs

The videos are stored on the hard Drive installed in the Network Video Recorder (NVR) Once the cameras are able to connect to the NVR, the recordings are done on the Hard drive.

You need to do port forwarding for your NVR to be able to just open it up in a browser. You can alternatively use a VMS software to view the cameras on a computer

All of them are good but each of them have their features. Eg, A TV may give you the luxury of a bigger screen and an HDMI input. A monitor may be smaller, with a VGA or + HDMI. So you may want to choose one depending on what you wish to get out of each choice.
