I've been waiting for you to review this! Love the vid! In my opinion, this device is perfect for what it's trying to do. It's like if the Switch Lite was a handheld PC. As someone who grew up with a GBA, PSP, Vita, and now a current Switch Lite owner, portability/pocketability is an important factor for me. The Steam Deck and Rog Ally are great devices, but I can't bring them easily anywhere because of their huge size. I just wish the price was a little bit lower or that they introduce an $800 variant with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage to match the Ally X.

If you really want a 7 or 8 inch living room handheld then buy the Ally / Legion Go / Steam Deck. This handheld is for people who simply want a small, compact device that they can pack into their backpack to save space when going to work, on the train or while traveling. The small 5.5 inch display doesn't bother us at all. We love small handhelds because they are easier to take with you everywhere.

So true. I game on my desktop at home. The Steam Deck was too clunky for gaming on the go. I got a Win4 and loved it so much. I feel 5.5 to 6.5 inch is kinda on the sweet spot.

​@@olddadagamer the size and convenience of all it's input options are easily the best points about it. the worst is that i have issues with my hands and can't game for tonnes of time with it's stock ergonomics. i do have some grips on the way for it that should improve things. i did buy it before the gpd win mini came out, but id still consider it pretty much the optimal option for a device that is great for gaming and acceptable for productivity on the go. it's input options make windows far more livable than on the rog ally or legion in windows. no need to keep a Bluetooth keyboard nearby unless you want to do more productivity focused tasks. the convenience of having keyboard shortcuts really cannot be overstated. having a game freeze up isn't the killer it is with many other handhelds. and having a hardware keyboard is so useful when a game requires text input. all that said, id probably take the ayaneo air 1s over the win 4 for purely gaming. run bazzite on it and enjoy a smaller and more powerful steam deck. but if you want a device that can double as a laptop in a pinch, but still has the great candybar formfactor and small size, there is nothing that quite matches the win 4. ayaneo slide comes close. but it doesn't have all the hardware input options

Nice device, for around that price, the ROG Ally X is another option. But I like the size of the Ayaneo so this is perfect to me. Ppl complaining about the price, well it is a handheld PC with some nice specs, what’d you expect? If that’s an issue then build a gaming PC, honestly better in the long run. Or even a laptop. Don’t compare this to some flagship phone that does the same thing as last year’s phone.

It's amazing how much technology they can cram into these little handhelds. You said this is more powerful than the ally x Didn't they say the new 8840 cpu isn't really any faster than the previous models. I thought the 8840 is basically a rename of the same older chip.

True. The 8840u is a little faster due to being slightly more efficient (about 4% faster), but it's more or less the same as the 7840u. However the 7840u is also faster than the Z1E (about 12% faster). So it's definitely substantially better than the Ally X or the Legion Go.

This screen is within 5% of the height of the square screen on something like the PK RGB30. It's about like if you took the RGB30 screen and then stretched it out horizontally into a 1.77:1 widescreen. Expensive for its display, but OLED is nice and it does have a decent amount of 3D power for a portable. Like with the Switch, the most battery I would need is about 3 minutes worth since I would play (just like the Switch) plugged in at couch or in bed or once in a while docked at my desk or on the TV.

APU can only go up to 20w on battery, and the Smart TDP usually keeps it between 10-15w depending on the game and settings.

I have an Air 1S and a Flip DS, I feel like the Flip DS is better in everyway except for the analog sticks. Its smaller but with a bigger screen, thermals are FAR lower, 2 screens for 3/ds and a virtual keyboard. I just felt like the Air 1S got way too hot for my liking and the screen size could get annoying.

Ayaneo will likely do a limited run like they often do, and the retro handheld community will buy just about anything (check collection posts on r/sbcgaming for evidence of that). A lot of those purchases will be followed by regret though. This kind of battery life at this price is nowhere good enough anymore for x86, given the competition.

This device is worth the price. The Aya Neo S1 is got is, well, janky, but still it’s my favorite system. You won’t find a handheld with a better OLED display, I got a 32 gig RAM version that will play everything. I got the limited edition version that weights 405 grams & can fit in your pocket & feel like it’s just your wallet. It has no real battery but that’s the price you pay for the smallest handheld you’ll ever see that can play the absolutely newest games imaginable & fit in your pocket as if it’s not even there. Like a switch mini that can play… it can run that damn Avatar game. lool. The Legion Go can’t even really run that game.

The ram in a handheld is also used as vram, and 16 GB is a pretty tight budget to work with considering that lots of games at high texture settings can use upwards of 8 GB of vram on their own. Also you can use this as a desktop PC in docked mode, so if you wanted to do some photoshop work or video editing on the side you have the versatility to do that.

I just ordered a pocket Evo.. I have a local streaming setup and I have been using a g cloud with a RP4 Pro for emulation. I’m going to sell both of them and use that to reduce the cost of the Evo. It truly seems like my ideal device. Large OLED, plenty of power, full size controls for game streaming. Unfortunately it is more costly than I would have liked, but unless AYN puts full size controls on Odin 3. It’s my endgame handheld

That's the one I want,the new evo makes more sense when it comes to battery life. Plus nice big 7in oled
