Nice video. I have the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800. I like it very much, but the electronic control has given me issues. Just last week I was smoking a brisket, a few hours in I opened the lid to add more charcoal, closed it and the fan would not come back on. The temp. dropped and dropped. LUCKILY I have another smoker (Campchef pellet smoker). I had to set that up, bring it to temp. and finish the brisket on that. After my Masterbuilt was all cooled down, I set it to 225 and I heard the fan come on. Crazy. Now I just "hope and pray" that it will work properly next time I go to use it! The controller is a real pain in the but to change out :-( Enjoy your new toy!

I wouldve seared the steaks off on the mini hopper just a bit. Great cook still! I used mine 3 times already and love it more than my traeger pro 34. I actually foiled the bottom grease tray and the flame cover. It was a lot to clean after mother's day grilling, so im hoping the foil will help out keep it clean. 1 major con for me would be the super small ash tray. Masterbuilt did not think it through on that one. Even if you were to dump the ashes during your cook, those ashes will still be burning hot to put in any bag to throw away so soon. About a 1/4 of charcoal in the mini hopper is already too much for that ash tray to hold. Once you pull it out to ash out, most of it just shaves off and falls all over the bottom panel. Another youtuber named Tom made a custom ash catcher, but I don't have the right tools to do what he did. Hopefully they make a bigger ash catcher in the future, then the grill will be perfect.

That is an excellent thought, to be honest I have just been concentrated on testing it and using the app and such that I completely forgot about the lid of the hopper for searing! I do agree on the ash tray, but so far I only have to empty it every third cook or so. Obviously that will change with longer cooks. However, while I do LOVE my Green Mountain Grill, I am super impressed the the cook and capability of the Masterbuilt. The flavor is amazing and the constant even heat cooks better. Thanks for the comment!

You can easily sear if you want, can set steaks on top of charcoal hopper, or take steaks off turn grill up to 700 degrees, toss steaks back on for a quick sear on each side (or sear up front same methods)
