Maybe once you have achieved a certain threshold of financial saving or passive income, allowing you to confidently cover all of your bills, then you can have the luxury of not having to worry about making money. I don't know how that feels as I have been working hard my entire life just to make ends meet, let alone have the money to buy luxury goods.

It’s true. I walked away from work and took care of my grandparents in their last days. Just afterwards, my closest friend, no, more like a brother came down with an aggressive cancer who I also took care of and is now gone. After these three years I now look for work. But this morning the above video came into my algorithm when I felt down for not having a job. Thank you for the reminder of why I do the things I do. I completely agree, we’ve been duped. I suppose the question now is, where to go from here..? Take care all, love and live life to it’s fullest.
@elitechampion Жыл бұрын
You haven't been duped, money is just a favour system. You need to earn your favours, you can't expect them to be handed out to you as a freebie, someone had to do hard work to give you your favours. Our system is just rigged because the rich can get their favours to earn more favours whilst doing absolutely nothing. Until the government balances this out from necessity or a civil war occurs where the poor majority take back the wealth from the rich minority (eg. China), you will need to work hard not to get left behind. This is quite achievable in most of the world (probably don't even need to work that hard). Only over populated places like India and China make it seem like it's a hopeless case.

People work hard, honest (and yes, smart too), in this system, but the only one who's getting rich are the very few who own what the worker has produced/invented/generated. If workers start to learn about their own's class true value and power, and how to organize, only then things can change for the better.

But he also generalizes a lot and makes weird, nonsensical statements. For example, perhaps I prefer a car that I have to drive because it's part of the fun to drive and control it. Also, as long as batteries are produced in harmful, non-environmentally-friendly, unsustainable ways, electric vehicles are kind of a satirical joke. I agree with him on one thing: you don't necessarily need millions and overpriced luxury items to be happy; just one million will do it, lol. What people miss here is that money also provides a lot of freedom, opportunities, and improved quality of life, to some extent. For example, whether you have 3 million or 1 billion, there will be barely any difference in life quality. You can still buy the healthiest food, purchase one or several decent cars, travel several times a year, and afford decent hotels without having to rely on hostels filled with strangers, some of whom might snore, lol, or deal with other inconveniences. So when people say money won't buy happiness, they either mean overpriced luxury items and lifestyles or they are simply being hypocritical, as they have the money to live a quite privileged life which they stop appreciating or never appreciated in the first place. For instance, they have a decent car, can buy healthy food, travel several times a year, pay any medical bills, afford wellness or extra treatments to improve their health and overall wellbeing, decide not to work, help or support friends, and never have to worry about any financial issues. These are things they often take for granted and would never give up, yet they have the nerve to tell you that money is not that important.

The problem with money is that it gives too much access into unnecessary things and encourages over consumption. That makes life complicated and confuses people into using money to try new experiences, hoping to be happy. The cause of course is ignorance, because the problems are health related - internal, and money in most cases become a distraction and not an assistant.

thats exactly it, especially in the modern childless or absent-parenting life. consumption is a replacement for any kind of real achievement or satisfaction in life, and like a drug the only way to feel close to the same feeling is to consume more. when the mind is weak, propaganda(ads) make you feel worse about what you have and that you'll feel better if only you get this new phone/shoes/car/etc.

@smartwater598 Using a yacht as an exaggerated theoretical, because once you own the cars you like, the house you're happy with and a bunch of other material things, what's next? unless you shoot for the stars and forge a multi-million dollar business to get what? a bigger house that requires more cleaning? a super sports car that requires high level maintenance, insurance and being scared to park it anywhere, or as i mentioned a yacht, that sits in the bay most of the time cos youre too busy making sure your business is maintained simply to maintain your lifestyle? What i was saying is that once you have achieved the basic necessities in modern day life, everything else would be great if it fell on your lap like a fantasy or winning tattslotto, but to earn and maintain those things, it takes alot of extra stress and attentiveness that very few people have the drive for until it throws out the balance of happiness which is really truly within. Money and material things bring an injection of satisfaction, but not contentment. You raise your lifestyle bar and get used to it. It will most likely become a constant effort to maintain. Otherwise, anything below that bar becomes a negative, that unless you started from the bottom will just depress you. Only those that come from the bottom remember what the bar used to be and appreciate.

Basic Training Lite you might call it, just it give us a taste of living on a military base and seeing what the program was all about. The instructor gave out Demerits (little white slips of paper indicating you'd done something wrong) like he was passing out business cards. Bad posture, not closing a door properly, breaking formation during PT, etc. He dominated us for a week handing out demerits left and right. But, he gave the most profound speech at the end of the week, about how some people spend their entire lives being ruled over by little slips of paper. I didn't enlist, but that speech was maybe one of the most important messages I learned in high school.

the businessman and the fisherman.. I spent 4 months sailing on a 12 meter sailboat as part of a marine conservation ngo crew ,working with remote island communities in helping conserve their marine resources. I've never seen happier, more giving people living in huts, obtaining their food from their coral reef ecosystem. I don't see many happy people in my own 'developed world' capitalistic society

Hi there from a german. I work part-time (32 hours per week) and still get quite a lot of money and also have quite a lot of free time. I am 45 years and PhD geologist. I can say working part time is nice and i can only recommend it. Before, I worked only 29 hours, that was even better but I noticed I need somewhat more money. Now I get around 70k Euros per year..that’s quite nice.

Enjoyed the video. There is a lot more to life than money. People who put most of their focus on material things tend to be shallow and unhappy. However, I do enjoy having a bit of money saved and invested. I like the fact that if I earned nothing over the next year, I'd be fine. It's nice to know that if my car needed a major repair job, or there was a medical emergency, I could cover it. Money, to me, is stored freedom. If you have enough of it, it takes unnecessary stress out of your life and gives you options. Everyone's balance is different.

Agreed. That's it. It's all fun, games, and romanticism until one doesn't have enough money to cover for an emergency. Then no one opens their mouth to say "money isn't everything". It might be everything one needs in a given situation.

12:52 These words are so important... Money /=/ happyness. If you waste away your youth/best years of your life with chasing materialistic things/money you will be very sad once you realize you wasted the best years of your life chasing something that means absolutely nothing once you die.

The first thing you use money for is survival. After that you get to choose to buy luxury or free time. I tend to value free time quite highly so last year I only spent like 5K AUD on things i consider luxury. This is primarily eating out, a holiday, nice food, presents for other people, video games, social events with friends, live shows etc. Almost entirely experiences that i could share with other people. I don't think there is going to be some big change. I meet too many normal people who think i'm crazy for living on 30K AUD a year. Most people can't save, so there will always be people to chug along the economy.

Stumbled onto this video. I too make well over half a mil a year. I started having thoughts that all of this is pointless endeavor but since everyone else I know is "getting after it" and "on the grind", I thought I was perhaps just feeling lazy. I have since realized that society has conditioned us to WANT to be the hardest worker bees. Our desire of working to perpetually consume is a conditioned system. Great insights man. Hopefully more people will wake up to your message.

There's a saying, more money, more problems. It's so true, that's why rich famous people pay heavy for privacy and security. All so they can have sex or network. Average people don't need to pay for that. Good for you, hope you invest it well.

Ok. So maybe someone can answer this. But I have dedicated my whole life to my passion of being creative/marketing. And I work at a small company with a meager salary. But my work is fun. I love taking photos, making vector logos. I don't wait for the weekend to start. Every day is precious to me. And some of the happiest moments this year were being creative in my job. It's really a hard feeling to describe but it gives me a deep and long lasting feeling of accomplishment and profound happiness. So. I don't hate my job like everyone else does. I don't say I love it, but I looooove the creative parts of it. So I don't want to retire, ever. I wonder, with all the money you've made. Wouldn't you rather want a job that makes you happy like me? Or would you rather take the money?

It’s Funny that You said Worker Bee didn’t You know that the whole world is set up like a Beehive at The Top their is a King and a Queen The Police and other Law Enforcement are the Soldiers Protecting the Hive from any Outside threats and Us the Civilians are the Workers but here’s the scary part a few years ago those comparisons I made above were nothing more than Metaphors but I think the end goal of the Powers that Be is to literally have Humanity become a part of a Hive Mind Collective Consciousness where anyone who is not down with the program will be completely locked out of society it has already started.

This has a bit of a detached tone to it. You think people are spending on luxury etc when in actuality for the average person, the cost of housing / rent / bills etc is more than enough to keep you on that perpetual hamster wheel. +inflation making us poorer as you said.

Women make up 85% of cosumer spending. Nearly all shops cater to women. Men are happy with minimalism. The only thing I would spend money on is good food ingredients and guns. You can get alot of guns and steak for what women spend on BS like makeup, Lululemon, Louis Vuitton. I first figured this out when all of my teachers at school had designer handbags despite make 35k a year. It’s really about priorities.

That is why shopping malls are crowded with women and if their husband/boyfriend came along, they look jaded and slug behind their woman/girlfriend. Myself I don't need much. Most shops dont cater to me and sell things I am totally not interested in.

Spending money on guns is still materialistic consumerism if you buy them just to have them with no real purpose for them.

Haha, this seems to true. I only spend on my house & food so that I can enjoy a good place to live in that isn't old, leaking, broken and tatted apart. Everything else is just spending by my wife lol! They are onto something though, life is too short. It's important to splurge every now and then to enjoy it while you can rather than being a rich 70 year old.

Thing is people who don't have money, are programmed to chase money. It's not until you have money, that you realize it's overrated. People should focus more on personal relationships with family and friends, and the experiences that you can enjoy with them. That's happiness. Buying a bunch of fancy stuff just to show off isn't worth the grind of always trying to make more money. Your basic necessities do not cost a lot of money to cover, but people are programmed to be consumers and always want more material stuff.. I've seen poor people and their families living a joyous life, and I've seen rich people live a miserable life. I've also been on both sides. Let me tell you, family, friends and experiences together are more joyous and rewarding than buying big houses and fancy cars. Money comes and goes. Yes a nice house and car is cool to own, but that shouldn't be your priority. It should be to share it with your loved ones.

Couldn't have said it any better, I've seen countless people tire themselves out continuously from working multiple jobs all in the effort to taste a drop of the luxurious lifestyle they have ingrained within them; only to realize you don't actually get there, you just tire yourself out to the point where your age prevents you from living the life you should have lived. You miss out on the little things, the experiences, the time you could spend with family, the time you could've given to your spouse, things like that.
@alejmc Жыл бұрын
100%, besides, if you had to work an extra 3 hrs to gain some extra money to pay for some debt or luxury, the government will steal half of that time (at least where I live)… however if you were to put those 3 hrs time on said little things, spouse, offsprings, nephews, etc you and your family would get to keep the full 3hrs.
