Traditionally, the USB connection on a UPS is to advise the computer when the battery is running out, so that it can do an orderly shutdown. As the manual for the River 3 Plus is not yet on their website we will have to see if this is the case. I have ordered one and await its arrival.

In this case, your computer would be plugged in and you would be using the USB B cable with some software

I think this is perfect for on the go…put in your car when you go on a trip or a day ride…never know when you’ll need a bit of extra power to charge a cell phone or something else….who knows your battery may quit on you and you didn’t charge your cell phone before you left….could save your life 👍

Sorry, but after watching this video, I’m glad I bought the new River 3, and not the River 3 Plus. The whole purpose, for me, was that it was small, yet still capable. The Newer River 3 Plus is too big. It’s nice that you can expand it, but I believe that most people looking for more power would buy a bigger unit with more peak output than to simply add more watts. I like my River 3 and my Delta 2 for when I need extra power.

Too big? The River 3 Plus is 9.2×9.1×5.8 in and the River 3 10×8.3×4.4 in. That's pretty close in size for 2x the amount of power and the capability of expansion.

@@Bobster986 Completely agree. Nice idea but silly. All that just to end up with what you could have got cheaper and smaller. Maybe a 500 or a 700 wh that could be doubled but still…….. Anker nailed it with the 1000 that can be doubled. Now they need to come down on the expansion batteries for it to make sense. Expansion is the future but not if its 2x the price .

Is the extra battery hot swappable? Can you charge the main unit and EB at the same time through the EB's USB C?

Battery can be removed and you can plug another one with no issues. Can't confirm the other question but check back with me when I'm back from travel this weekend and I can do that test for you. Good question

They both have a technology called X-GanPower, EcoFlow claims devices that use 100w or less can run 2 x longer because of this technology.

1st nice youtube channel 👍🏼 To answer you, No the 3 plus doesn’t have it but if you have the extra battery The battery does have the USB C in and out so you can charge both when the battery is connected

RIVER 3 plus, anyone else notice a nasty chemical sell if you smell the vents of this unit? My room smells of this chemical and I have had it 5 hrs

The reason I ask is mine (RIVER 3 Plus ) has a loose part/screw rattling inside so I thought it was shorting out on the motherboard on some component causing chemical smell. I remember the Bluetti EB55 and the EB70 had that AC charger separate from the unit and it smelled bad. Years ago, Samsung 24" TV's had bad capacitors that did this same smell. With this experience, and past experience, I will NOT be buying Ecoflow RIVER 3 Plus again. Do all the Ecoflow's smell like chemical too? The Bluetti's cleared up (newer units don't smell).

I’ve seen most of these units. Have an initial smell again. Some people are more sensitive than others, but I found it to be a light smell that did go away overtime, buddy.

This feels like a hostage review........All that for 800ish watt hrs!!! I'm an EcoFlow fan but in this case the Bluetti AC70 beats it hands down it has the same capacity and a 1000 watt inverter.

This concept doesn’t make sense. Add an expansion and end up with something just adequate and bigger and more expensive than just buying a more powerful one. This one will fail. Sorry ecoflow.

Sorry, but a measly 300 watts? Just enough electricity to wish you had none at all. It'll charge your cellphone and laptop, run a lamp for awhile... big deal.... My humble advice? Save some money and grab a MINIMUM of 1800 watts where you can at least run a frige! Wait for sales and grab one at the lowest price possible. In hindsight, you'll be glad you did. The Ecoflow Delta 2 is a great unit! And they are trying to clear the warehouses of the Delta 2's right now to replace it with the new Delta 3's. Don't take the easy shortcut here and settle for a River!
