That reminds me of the 50's sci-fi movies rockets. What we can dream of we can do.

This video on SpaceX's innovative solutions for Starship, including landing legs and the concept of a launch pad drone in international waters, is truly exciting! The idea of a launch pad in international waters is vital for numerous space projects. It allows for operations that are not bound by the laws of any specific country, offering greater flexibility and freedom. For instance, at the Space Empire, we are working towards creating and facilitating the development of space colonies. These colonies could eventually seek independence and become full-fledged nations. Having a launch pad in international waters would be crucial in supporting these ambitions, ensuring that our projects can operate without the constraints of national jurisdictions. The possibilities this opens up for international collaboration and innovation in space exploration are immense. Kudos to SpaceX for pushing the boundaries and bringing such visionary ideas to life!

Yes, landing on legs will be a big solution for Starship to be more flexible

To the people who seem surprised..it was the logical next step (already been in development), you know Starship created for moon an Mars landings. For the people who question the ability to do so (the doubters) just watch the hundreds of Falcon 9 booster landings. TO MARS AND BEYOND 😊

This is so amazing. Can’t wait till a Starship launches from Canaveral.

My thoughts were that landing gear legs are better for low gravity landings and uneven/unpredictable terrain

SpaceX seems likely to have several business cases that require landing legs on Starship. Moon and Mars landings and Earth suborbital hops will frequently not have enhanced infrastructure like Mechazilla. It will be interesting to see how the company deals with these challenges.

So they land without legs on a pad, but how do they take off without a flame trench?

Are there planes in liner landing and return to earth.
@intellectualcat40002 күн бұрын
Before landing on the Moon or Mars, you need to land a landing platform there.😁

Any starship legs would need to be able to handle uneven ground as well as the weight of the starship

Thinking about landing on platforms has it limits so what about a decommissioned aircraft carrier ! No longer good for defense but would I think be plenty good for the needs not only landing but for launch! Hey by the way this is my idea ! For free for ones use lol.

I don't think an aircraft carrier deck would support the spacecraft. And the nuclear reactor leads to many regulatory issues. It would probably be easier to use an old container ship . They are designed with reconfiguration in mind and there are lots of them

I think starship should have had legs by now. Planets don't have mechazilla . The weight thing doesn't wash. Especially not with engine improvements. Starship could have been coming back to launch site or droneship long ago. If it's truely an interstellar ship , it has to have legs. The ship already knows how to land as we've seen it many times. Definitely need bigger droneships.

Yes, I also agree with u. Starship needs to have legs to land on Moon and Mars in its early days

Before Mechazilla is built on there

@techmap9 I just think they should be dealing with the extra weight for landing legs right out of the box so no surprises later. That way all problems are dealt with and no redesigning any existing systems.

Starship is a testing program at the moment. They are working on the required innovations first. They will need several types of starships some with and some without legs. I see 4 types at a minimum; starlink per, other payload capable, life support capable and fuel transfer only) They need the weight gains you get without legs to get propellant up to load the legged starships that will have legs.

I think the starship sucks fir landing on the moon. Dint get me wrong , i love starship but it should be made to land horizontally. For ease of loading and unloading. The starship version fir the moon should be easier to load and unload. Hie you gonna get a cybertuck unloaded? With that elevator 🛗?

I don't know anything. I'm just a 61 year old disabled trucker who grew up with star trek and many others like space 1999 and lots more. I'm looking for something as utilitarian as a shuttle craft or an eagle (, not the bird). Starship has flaps in the design already so why couldn't the existing structure be made to house engine pods,? The flaps already move so if you made engine pods that feature could be utilized to control engines for landing. Look up that old show and look at an eagle. They were designed for the moon. I know it's sci-fi but where do you think most of the stuff we have today came from that inspiration came from. Notably the old flip phones, microwaves and iPads . Star Trek. All of em.
