Better to use Kiwisdr 2 - easy to setup and have build in decoders for DRM and many more and is the same price range
@David-fr9ve8 күн бұрын
We need built in DMR decoders not DRM ..🤷

Here in UK Kiwisdr 2 is £400 and SDR Play nRSP-ST is £460, kiwi is cheap :)
@Threlly13 күн бұрын
So an RSPDuo will give me two receivers and diversity, and with the addition of a Raspberry Pi I can totally duplicate all the functionality here for a few hundred pounds less with greater receive capability! SDRplay need to address the pricing here, it just doesn't stack up, which is a great shame, I love their kit and up to this point they hadn't put a foot wrong.

Thanks for asking this, I would like to hear a reply official or otherwise. I'm sure some folks will prefer the single box solution (and that is understandable) but when the price difference is what it is, one has to question why not go for the cheaper option.

Please have caution that you are opening ports up to your local network... it could be better to set up a DMZ or a VLAN that you can segregate this device on so if any vulnerabilities are exploited on the device, they cannot pivot to your main machine.

Hmmm, Technological marvel for certain, which likely or most often is the strongest incentive in a set of incentives for having one. Assuming it's a single receiver capable of being addressed anywhere one has Internet connection or perhaps also a WiFi connection I'd personally not opt for this device and select another quality SDRPlay receiver having dual receivers were I to pursue having a new & different toy. While these network receivers have their place I can't say I have an interest in hosting a network addressable receiver & typically when I am away from the home engaged in shopping, attending a movie, visiting friends, working in the shop, & etc listening to a receiver is not included in the activity. On the other hand if you have several homes and do not want to equip each with a radio room or if you often want to listen to the receiver while traveling to a destination it seems a perfect fit.

Great video and information as usual there. My question: I already have an RSPdx, connected to a windows box running 24/7 as a dedicated server for SDRConnect which I access locally and via my VPN server when out and about. Other than the web interface, does the nRSP-ST offer any other benefits over the setup I currently have?

I see from the video that it's possible for up to 8 users to use the nRSP-ST simultaneously. I'm assuming that those users would need to be within the same 10MHz of bandwidth?

Can we use tailscale if we not have public IP and not open and forward ports?Is there SSH function for nRSP-ST?
@BeneeUK13 күн бұрын
You could reverse tunnel to it via SSH and then set your reverse tunnel as your proxy, that way you can authenticate securely i.e via a cert or at a minimum a length password
@uncleal609513 күн бұрын
@@BeneeUKTailscale puts an end to dynamic IP/port forwarding nonsense, that’s the beauty of it. All devices running Tailscale act as they are on one internal network regardless of location.

@@uncleal6095 fair point, but I wouldn't want to trust the tailscale team, they seem like a jackpot target for an attacker though you could run your own headscale, most ISPs will sort you a static IP if you're nice enough :) or will let you lease one

@@thbe51 It's not a bug as we use both WiFi and ethernet all of the time. Inside the administrator tool the web client/socket port IS greyed out because it can't currently be changed from 9001. The more I look at this, the more I think it's overpriced. A single receiver and an SBC wouldn't be more than $200, so why is this more than $500?
@jinzepeng676512 күн бұрын
Maybe you were forced to buy a Raspberry Pi 5 bundled with it, because it looks like a Raspberry Pi and RSVP1A in one box.
@wuslon708 күн бұрын
I don't understand this product tbh. The SDR is limited to the sdrconnect software, which is far away from being finished. No modules, questionable UI, and unstable at longer operations. The SDR has no interface for the established softwares (like SDR++, SDR# , SDRangel or Uno over EXTIO). Sdrconnect offers no direct trunking as well. So I'm stuck with a fancy analog audio only receiver für ~500 bucks, and have other option as to wait for their software to mature. After testing out the nrsp for a bit over a week, I have finally returned it today. My current set-up with one RSPdx R2 on a Raspberry 5 is waaay more flexible - and less expensive. I doesn't look so sleek, though.
@martinryan506912 күн бұрын
Very expensive they are becoming a rip off the Chinese will step in again and they will decode everything as well for half the price
