I just want to say you guys are amazing. I had an issue with my new elite today and Cody went out of his way to make sure we got it set straight. Best company I've worked with in my life.

I was trying to replace the safety plunger spring on my XR920 and I'm doing it for the first time. So I get to the stage where you have to remove it and I'm like "wait where is the plunger?" Took a half hour and this video to figure out that it hadn't shot out and gone to warp - turns out I just don't have that piece since my pistol was optic-ready.... and now that I've found that out I get the joy of having to completely uninstall my optic to put in a single spring... Fantastic.

I had to take a small pin out that is visible with the optic plate off. I then was able to put in the safety plunger, extractor and extractor spring in. At that point I was able compress the extractor spring and drop the little pin in! Hooray! Cleaned and back together!

I was looking for a video on disassembly of the magazine which is apparently a Glock or PMAG, which is difficult to disassemble,you truly make an amazing pistol which is not a clone but is head and shoulders above the Glock or the clones I feel that you should have your own mags that are as easy to disassemble as the pistol itself..just a thought carry on.🇺🇲

You recommend 10 inch lbs even with an optic installed? I have my holosun 508t at 15 inch lbs because that's what the holosun manual said, should I readjust to 10 inch lbs?

Awesome video. After seeing the depressor plunger channel the entire length of the slide, can a combat slide be milled to utilize the same optic mount as the optic cut depressor plunger rod assembly?

Hey Shadow Systems! I was wondering what you guys think about the new Timney triggers for Gen 4 Glocks? I use an MR920 for Carry Optics division in USPSA and I've seriously been considering ordering the Timney trigger kit for that pistol. Taran Butler even made a video saying that he put the new Timmy triggers in all of his competition guns too.

We haven’t really done much testing with the Timney trigger, but all of our customers have reported that it does not work or takes extensive modification to be compatible.

@@ShadowSystemsCorp Well what can I do to make the trigger better? I just took my new XR920 to the range the day before yesterday and I am very disappointed in the trigger, I can't shoot it near as well as I can my other pistols. I would greatly appreciate any advice. I was looking at the Overwatch Precision trigger kit, but after what I paid for the gun, I hate to have to spend more money, That was the main point of me buying this gun. Other than the trigger, I absolutely love everything else about it.

Hi Trevor! Quick question, I have several MR920s and recently I purchased 2 of the Black Ops versions and I when I try to remove the slide they both have tendencies to lock up and I have to push the barrel hard into a table to get unlock it. What is causing this issue?
@fullfire0
@fullfire0 3 жыл бұрын
Hey I know this problem! This happened to me and one time the slide got locked up so bad with the trigger forward so I couldn't reset the slide at all. If your problem is the same as mine, where the slide moves forward a little and then stops and won't come off or go back into battery, I can help. The problem is being caused by the recoil rod. It comes loose when you disassemble and jams up the slide. You can solve this by using a rubber mallet and smacking the bottom of the gun right on top of where the serial number is located, this can help push the recoil rod back into place so you can take it apart. The other option is similar to what you did, but instead of pushing the barrel hard into a table hold the slide in your non dominant hand, clear of the frame and then with the web of your dominate hand smack it into the grip area like you're trying to rack the slide really aggressively. If the trigger gets stuck forward when the slide gets stuck that's the only way to fix it. To prevent this from happening, rack the gun 3 times before taking it apart. This ensures the recoil rod is in place. I had this problem and my gun was jammed up for a couple weeks until I got shadow systems on the phone and they walked me through the solution of racking the slide aggressively. They also hooked me up with a bunch of parts including an entirely new trigger, which even came with a new trigger housing and ejector! Among those parts was a new recoil rod which did seem to help the problem though I did have it happen once, but since then I rack the gun 3 times before taking it down and I've never had it happen since doing that. I'm not sure why it happens or why it continues to happen with a new recoil spring but racking the gun 3 times has solved it for me. You could also get a Glock OEM gen 4-5 recoil rod and I bet that would solve it as well. I tested it in my gun using my gen 5 Glocks recoil rod and it didn't happen. I think it's because the part that pushes into the barrel is really thin whereas the shadow system rod is thicker. The Glock part just seems stickier for some reason. Personally I've opted to keep the shadow part and just rack the gun 3 times before taking it apart. This problem can happen with any Glock base handgun so it's not exclusive to the MR920 either. The internet is full of people trying to find a solution to very similar problems. Hope I helped!

Hey Trevor, on my DR 920 it takes 3-4 attempts before the slide can be removed in a field strip. The slide will move about 0.5” then hits a hard stop. Have you seen this?
@fullfire0
@fullfire0 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah me and some others have had this problem. Before you go to take the slide off, rack the gun 3 times. The problem is caused by the recoil rod sticking up slightly, racking the gun helps seat the recoil rod in place. Another thing is you only need to move the slide back like a millimeter before depressing the takedown levers, if you move it too much past that you'll engage the sear and the trigger will come forward as you go to take it apart.

I have an MR920 with a factory installed Holosun. You did not comment on removing the firing pin safety by pulling the extractor outwards. This can be done with out removing the optics. At least the firing pin safety can be cleaned. Is this something you recommend or is it not necessary? I share the viewer's opinion that I do not want to disasemble the optics to clean my pistol.
@ShadowSystemsCorp
@ShadowSystemsCorp 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for the comment. We would generally not recommend removing a firing pin safety this way as you might find you damage it on reinstallation trying to slip it past the very hard extractor. With that said, detail stripping and cleaning a slide is not something that needs to be done very often at all...several thousand rounds can likely be fired before even considering a detail strip. Frankly, cleaning the firing pin channel would be the most important area to clean, and this can be done by removing the backplate only. Either way, we felt the trade-off was a good one--a super strong mounting system that is low and multi footprint for a more difficult disassembly process. Glad you are enjoying the gun. Trevor

Blue loctite is non-permanent and is easily removable with just a hand tool with minimal resistance. You may want to wipe off any dried excess from the screws before reinstalling your optic with some new blue Loctite.

I still believe that having to remove your optic to fully disassemble the slide is one, if not the only, shortcoming of the MR920 design. Having to remove your optic, degrease and clean the surface, clean and degrease the screws and remove the old dried up Loctite on them, reinstall the optic, retorque it to spec, reconfirm zero each time you want to clean your slide becomes really old after a while. Especially if you shoot dirty ammo or like to keep your gun pristine.

Each time you want to clean your slide? What are you doing it once a week? Doing it once a year is borderline OCD really. Get a grip. Shoot it. Have fun. You buy a hammer from gone depot and use it once it’ll never look the same. Let it go
@GG_BEATS

You only need to disassemble the slide ever 5 to 8k rounds honestly. Which I'm guessing you'll prolly never shoot that many rounds in your life. So yea.

@@GG_BEATSprobably true for most. Though I shoot 1.5 to 2.5 cases a month in nightly COF training so won’t be a fun procedure for me to remove and sight optic each time.

@toddtzm that's understandable, I shoot 500 to 1k a month and honestly I havnt fully disassembled my shadow. I only take out the striker and wipe it down. You only need to take the optic off if you want to remove the extractor.

@@GG_BEATS I wonder if some engineering advantage to designing the extractor/plunger vs how Glock makes it much easier. Perhaps SS tighter tolerances help in some way?
