Thoughts on using Vibratite VC3 thread locker?
@fullfire0
@fullfire0 3 жыл бұрын
I've used that stuff before and it was awful. It says it's reusable but that's bull. The stuff didn't even stay on the threads the first time. When I tightened the screw down all of the vc3 came off and had zero thread locking effect. I would watch it peel off as the screw went down, I remove the screw and there's zero vc3 on it. I tried like 3 times, following the instructions exactly and even letting it sit twice as long to dry as it recommends ands till it was just bad. I won't use it again

If applied correctly, it’s far better than loctite. Less mess, far easier to clean up. It’s the future. BUT, it just be done right. Screws must be clean. The right amount must be applied. Too much and it’ll gunk up the screw as you insert it. Too little and it won’t hold.

I believe my 508t is mounted using 242 blue, I ran out of the included 243 because I swapped optics a couple times, went from the 507c to an rmr to the 508t (my final, permanent choice), would you recommend I remove it and remount using 243, or is 242 good enough? I followed the instructions in the manual to a T, though I think I torqued to 13 inch pounds using a torque wrench (since holosun manual says 15, and the mr920 manual says 10, I chose a middle ground, I did email your customer support prior to this and they said 10-15 is fine so hopefully I'm good there). I just don't want to remove, remount and re-zero if I don't have to do so. That's why I chose the 508t in the end, never have to remove it again even when changing batteries! RMR is great and all but I hate having to remove and rezero when I swap batteries. I'm in no hurry but I'm interested to hear what you think!

So we have the mr920, the mr920L, and now the dr920. When will there be a Dr frame but with the Mr slide? Something modeled after the g19x and/or g45! I'd buy one tomorrow if someone can get it to me!
@fullfire0
@fullfire0 3 жыл бұрын
When they launched the mr920l they explained they don't like the idea of a DR frame on a 19 slide because they market their guns for concealed carry/duty use, and when you're carrying for duty the size of the gun doesn't really matter since usually it's OWB and you're not trying to conceal it. When you're carrying concealed, the difficult portion of the gun to conceal is the grip as the slide is under your pants and is easily hidden, the grip portion of the gun is what you're trying to conceal behind your shirt or jacket or w/e. Because of that, the mr920L makes sense as the longer glock 17 sized slide is hidden just as easily as the glock 19 size, meaning you get all the benefits of the longer barrel etc, but it conceals just as easy as the mr920 since the grip is an mr920 size. Going the opposite, a DR frame on an MR slide doesn't make sense as you're making the gun harder to conceal, you don't benefit from a longer sight radius or barrel, and really you only get +2 capacity which in a 15+1 capacity gun I'd argue that +2 is pretty useless, Especially if you carry a spare mag. Personally I like having a threaded barrel on my mr920 as this gives me the benefits of the DR size barrel with none of the drawbacks. I really don't get why people like the g19x or g45 so much, it's completely backwards of what makes sense so I'm glad shadow systems recognized that and released the mr920l

@@fullfire0 I conceal carry a G45 rather than a G17 or G19. The extra height of the frame of the 17 or 45 are a non-issue for me. However, what does make a difference for me and counters your point, is that the 45 and 19 both have the shorter slide. The shorter slide of the 19 & 45 fit me better since I carry appendix 90% of the time. My body size and shape allow for sitting/squatting with appendix carry without a dig. In conclusion the 17 or 45 frame height are good for me, but the 19 or 45 slide length are just right. The common factor is the 45. I am not alone.
@fullfire0
@fullfire0 3 жыл бұрын
@@rnew6735 I'd say you're in the minority then. Generally when you carry appendix, the longer the gun the better as the extra length helps push the grip of the gun in and conceal easier. Especially since the slide length difference between the 19 and the 17 is pretty small. Even so, if you're going to carry the 19 size slide why have a 17 size grip? A 19 size grip would be easier to conceal and more comfortable. I don't see the reason to carry a g45 over a g19 at all. Even if what you say is true, you're still sacrificing something for the extra grip length when it's just not necessary at all

@@fullfire0 we are in the minority for maybe the specific purpose built guns. But the thing you or SS isn't talking about is....they will SELL! And as a business consultant professionally that means something. Just saying. Not every gun has to be carried or duty carried. They can be just for fun too...
@fullfire0

@@l337l0gan I don't disagree. I was talking specifically about people who carry them. It makes no sense to me. I agree they would sell though

Is it necessary to reapply Loc-tite after removing and replacing an optic? For example, after a battery change on an RMR.
@ShadowSystemsCorp
@ShadowSystemsCorp 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you would need to repeat the process. The tube of loctite that comes with the gun is much more than you need. You can put a nail or pushpin in the end of the tube after you use it and it should keep for about a year. Trevor
