Hobbyist miner also did not confirm the new IP address until after he hit the reset button. He can use a super old laptop to remote in that way, heck he can use a complete different network than his home network. I still think Hobbyist miner f'ed it up himself. And his stance of not wanting to recommend it is just false IMHO. I've OC'ed 2 here at home and they've been chugging away perfectly. And at the way the Kaspa network hashrate is going through the roof it only makes sense to OC it. Dont find yourself regretting 6 months from now for not OC'ing. And if you get a second one then stop being babies everyone and OC that one too. The chart in this video just makes pure sense.

I want as much hashrate as I can get right now. Mines been running steady but I get why people don't want to mess with the overclocks. All good points in your video

Thanks for bringing attention to this. To add some more details for everyone. I did this LIVE on Stream, so the VOD is out there. I took the KS0 Ultra which had been mining for 10 days and removed the side panels. My goal was to see how far I could overclock it on JUST air cooling with an 800 CFM 8Inch AC Infinfity Inline Fan. I didn't plan to do any MOSFETs for new Thermal paste. I followed the Read Me and did the Intialize Firmware. That bricked my unit. I never even got a chance to get to the actually OC Firmware Phase. I don't recommend this Firmware at this time, as if you Brick it, you need to give someone remote access to your network to "fix" it and pay for them to fix it.... Not worth the risk, just buy a second unit honestly.

Good idea...I just can't stress enough, follow the directions to the T and read them over and over and over. Too many people are bricking their ultra's because they can't seem to follow directions. It amazes me really. And then you get some youtubers who can't admit when their wrong and then trash a beautiful piece of firmware.

@@RainBitcoins I just let it run and it works fine if the chips cool down too much it seems to run like crap now if i was gonna do higher than 565 i would do the mods and the fancy shrouds and fans for sure
@RainBitcoins6 ай бұрын
@@FrogmanMining ya but running the fans at 100% is not for your asic chips...its for the 4 vrm chips that we put copper heatsinks on. If you allow the fans to be controlled solely by the Ultra your vrm's are gonna get too hot. And the issue is we don't know nor does the ultra know how hot they are getting as they are temp controlled nor fan controlled. Hence leave your fans at 100%. It also says to do this in the OC instructions.
@toddpeterson59046 ай бұрын
You NEED to really read and understand the instructions, and do the right cooling mods (AX-6 paste, good pads, shroud, Axial fan, etc.). In most cases, with that it works like a charm. Both of mine are running solidly around 600Gh/s even after playing with 676Gh using a 330W. Definitely worth it to overclock and better than buying another KS0 Ultra

Now i'm a bit nervous...lol. Noob to mining- not overclocking. So- if I follow your steps in the OC video you did- I should be good, correct? Also- I do not have access to a shroud- can I pay someone to make one and ship it to me?

after mod KS0 Ultra is only hashing about 1GH. i re applied thermal paste/pads, installed the heat sinks on the mosfets. moved the fans to the outside of the ultra. I plugged back in and im getting 1GH. I thought it was a power supply issue, but i tried a different one and no luck. I reverted back to the original Iceriver firmware. Still getting 1GH. Any suggestions?
@TechnicalsMatt5 ай бұрын
It was at 400gh prior to changing anything, right? Did you try the different firmware variants (L, ~, H) etc?
@MaddioDaddioMining5 ай бұрын
@@TechnicalsMatt yeah it was hashing 400GH on stock iceriver firmware. when OCs came out i tried the 505GL. That worked fine. I wanted to get up to 600s so i got the thermal glue, heat sinks, 3d printed the shrouds. I did the mod. Typical straight forward mod same as we've all done on the KS0 Pros and original KS0s. I let the glue cure for 24 hours and i put everything back together. She fires right up and i can get to the UI just fine but it won't do more than a few GH. I opened the monitoring tool TSwift gave us and chips are all green but there is no voltage or anything going to the chips. I opened it back up and everything looks fine. I don't think i damaged it. I tried a different power supply and same thing. I reverted back to original Iceriver firmware and it's still getting 5GH.
