Love the technics stuff. It was all I could afford back in the 80s. Maybe cheap but I never had problem with their stuff.

Really impressed with the production quality. It's top notch! It's very clear and concise, too, which I definitely appreciate haha The system looks awesome! Great work 😁

Watching this makes me sad about my system getting skipped, to think I could have resurrected it and still be enjoying it today

@@retrograveyard Hi, do you know if Technics CH-530 units also wotk with Technichs CH-515? Are the Technics separates/components with ribbon interchangeable?

Nice job! 👍 As commented on IG my parents have one of these which is still setup, complete and in pristine working order … apart from the cassette decks! So might give this a go. The only hairy bit looks like the desolder/resolder of the motor assembly to the PCB. I sometimes end up lifting pads doing this! Where do you get the replacement belts?

Good look with it. These are the belts I bought: surl.li/hcrdh

Try some low melt solder on the joints and use a solder sucker. Makes de solder go really easy.

Roller are REALLY BAD too ! You spend so many time doing one out of ten that should be done. Rollers change, Clean shafts,Lubricate shafts and gears, adjust Speed high, adjust Speed low, Adjust Azimuth,Adjust PB level , Adjust REC level, Adjust REC BIAS

In the tape dacks i advise you to change too the pinch rollers ☺️

I have a similar Technics mini component deck. These things make no sense at all - they put in more or less decent mechanisms but then used plastic flywheels on the capstans and also the motor has to be desoldered to get access to the entire mechanism. Also, my deck has a computerized tape calibration mechanism that calibrates Bias, EQ and Level to the used tape, but there is no way to adjust the recording level manually.

You need to replace the pinch rollers too, is a common faulty in these systems

Hey, today I bought a similar model, the sa eh600, from a garage sale for 30 bucks (pretty good find!) I turned it on and low and behold, had the exact same issue with the tape deck switching back and fourth. I am entirely inexperienced in this area of audio equipment, but i was just wondering if you knew where i could get new belts like the ones shown in this video? Cheers :)

Hi there great video. This is the only one ive found after months of searching. Silar to ch tape 550/950 and the belts are shot and i think some gear teeth damaged. Have you worked on those. Cheaper to buy another than get fixed by tecky. Ended up with four.. same problem. Wanted to have a go myself lol Where are you based in England? Cheers

😠 ~ mostly with that 1 tune being looped-over/repeated, this was his 1st video so that would be expected; if to have background music as default = it must be diverse as to have more than 1 “just” looped, and to be low enough to not be intrusive/distracting from the narration and subject 😉

I found that when I edited the video and played it back, the volume seemed fine. But once it was published a few people pointed out it was too loud. Ah well, my new videos have no music at all! 😄
