Technics RS TR232Stereo Double Cassette Deck with No Tape Take-up on BOTH Decks Part 1 RDG5772ZC

A local customer dropped off a Technics RS-TR232 Tape Deck to be checked out. I found the identical issue with both decks, missing teeth on the drive gears. I did find replacement gears available on line (eBay) this is part 1 pending customer approval there will be a part 2

Great detail. I remember one arrogant customer electronics sales guy mocking me when I pronounced Matsushita like you did. That turd likely couldn't figure out how to change the battery in his remote.

tape motors usually have a date code too.. these gears are a common failure on Panasonic/Technics decks using that mechanism.. nice decks once they are running.. the leaf sensors/switches that detect tape modes also fail due to carbon buildup on the contacts.. real fun taking the plastic shrouds off of those.. i mean it sucks.. good luck getting it going!

I was about to write down that there is a aftermarket growing and becoming available for these Technics Gears and also a lot other Brands with the same worries (Thanks to the 3D Printing Rising) ..and you found it by your self.

For future reference, if you need stuff 3D printing the usual Chinese PCB fabricating companies will do 3D prints including resin prints for very little money (we're talking just a few dollars here for small items), and these "cheese gears", being very common failure points are generally available as STL files on the Internet for free. I've been through this recently with a Philips deck that suffers similarly. I think they used this soft material to make the decks quieter - but as these are just playback take-up gears I really don't think folk will be all that bothered about a slight grinding noise on playback on a 30-40 year old tape deck!

@@norcal715 i know you watch him you tube used to let you post your favorite other channels. they took that off everyones you tubes pages. thats how i found other content creators. by lookin at the content creators other channels. wes has a 3d printer. reach out to him. tell him you are a youtuber and need a gear. he has made something like that before on his 3d printer on one of his shows

I do not for the life of me understand why someone just doesn't come up with a mod kit to convert these units to tire drive simular to older style VCRs
