Thanks! It helped very much. Unfortunately I got modified board too, but found SERVICE MANUAL RS-TR373M2 and found corresponding resistors: R406 (1/4W 27 Om) and R407 (1/4W 18 Om) on board B (Mechanism control P.C.B. (Deck2)). both of them burned out and had endless resistance. After I replaced them sound returned!

Glad it helped! I think there must be a shelf life on the components.! It’s a case of test test test and look for anything that looks odd 😊

It is unbelievable! I was so happy to have found this tutorial but I just discovered that my RS-TR373 has a modified board! Probably they changed the circuit just to put new tricky resistors all around! What a discomfort 😢 on the board there's this sign: NOTICE: THE ORIGINAL DESIGN HAS BEEN CHANGED. REFFER (YES "FF") TO SERVICE MANUAL! Technics is well known for fantasy in putting strange parts made to break, like soft and fragile cogs...

I think they did change boards quite a bit. I have looked a few other modules and the difference in components is wild! If you have any images please share 😊

Get video, thanks. I found R632 open on my unit. Replaced it with a new resistor and the sound is back. $0.08 versus another unit in landfill.

They are MF25 27R RESISTOR, 0.25W 1% 27R. If you Google should find them. Cheers 😊

My Technics RS-M215 cassette deck no longer outputs or inputs any sound. Any idea on what could be causing this and how to fix it? I downloaded the PDF service manual online but I can't make sense of any of it. Could you take a look at the manual schematics and perhaps point me in the right direction? Maybe tell me which component is the most likely culprit. Thanks.

Hey, you need to check each component for continuity and look for any burn/damage marks on the items. Happy for you to share images of the boards?

hello, maybe someone will help got same issue with tape deck RS-CH770 tape is playing but no sound, any suggestions please?

You will need to look for some rusty or burnt out components. Check all across the board. Also check the ribbon connections from the tape decks to the main board.
