Does anyone have a tutorial for this? I just got an SL-1300, I have a bit of experience with electronics and soldering so I think I can do it. But I need instructions

Jammin Dave this is not simple purchase and replace thing these are 4 blue LEDS which is driven by 60hz generating circuit. 60 hz pluse generating ic is purchased rest is self made.

@Jammin Dave.. the idea that you need an IC that generates 60 hz timing pulse to get a blue stroboscopic effect is total Bullcrap. do not believe all things in the net, some people just needs attention. you just need to replace the original bulb with an LED with a 10k ohm (this value differs depending on what LED you used, just google it) resistor to protect the forward voltage of the LED. that is all you need. really. you ask a straight forward question, i hope i gave you a straight answer. the strobe effect comes from the dots in the platter, if it is turning at the right speed, you will see the right effect. the light is just there to illuminate the effect. have a nice day!!!

@@vicv9503 the AC frequency 50hz or 60hz (depend on region) was not giving stable dot hence i used frequency generator.

Can you tell me how you did it? Where can I get the correct led?

hello, these are not just LED replacement because originally this turntable have neon bulb(shown in the video) as strobe light which works directly from mains AC frequency. you can also use LED on AC with suitable resistor in between but it will not be bright enough. i uses few things here. i bought Turntable Strobe module from www.tindie.com/products/bot_thoughts/turntable-strobe/ if its unavailable ask the guy for its he is very friendly and helpful. few modification require to run 4 LEDs at full power. if you want to know in full detail mail me i'll send you schematics or just ask the bot thoughts guy.

I have a SL1300 and want to do this, Can you still buy these blue neons? The link takes you to a blue LED. Did you shoot a video of installing the bulb? That would be helpful

These are not neon bulb but LEDs running through frequency generator . i did not shoot the video when installing it but i can make video to show how it is from inside and its circuitry is but you have to wait as i am busy and dont know when i am able to shoot it.

You have to first buy this www.tindie.com/products/bot_thoughts/turntable-strobe/ this is currently out of stock but ask the seller if he can make you one. If you got this ask me again for further schematic.

Or you can buy any other frequency generator either 100Hz or 120Hz which is double of 50Hz and 60Hz respectively. I don't know how to make perfect frequency generator. How the current default turntable strobe light is working? Mine was showing squarish dots instead of perfect circular dot that is the reason i changed the neon bulb for this micro controller based strobe. If yours working fine you can you electric mains to light up leds too which then will work on frequency of your mains electricity.

Ah... okay. I've contacted the seller so we'll see what he says. I think my stobe is working okay, so maybe I'll try that. Your speed looks pretty stable, have you serviced it? My 33rpm seems to be either a little fast or little slow...
