I had a Technics sl-q2 that I bought in 1979. I "lent" it to my son about 15 years ago, and never seen it again.

I've had mine since the 70's and it's flawless. Had it in storage for 25 years too. Set it up again recently and it still sounds fantastic

They really are great turntables. They're so reliable and its rare to come across one with any major issues even 40ish years down the road

Nice turntable, I have 2 mint 1200s but wouldn’t mind a deck like yours to add to my collection, I also have a mint Garrard 4HF.

How much for the turntable with shipping to Sussex Wisconsin 53089?

The Technics SL-Q2 is certainly one of - if not THE best - low budget turntable ever made. There are two other decks that are on a similar bang for the buck level: Dual CS-510 and Pioneer PL-518. So if you are in for a feast for your ears for a low budget this are the best decks available. Period. I would not equip a SL-Q2 with a lesser cartridge than a AT-VML95ML because the transducer makes most of the sound if a certain level of technical perfection is reached by the drive and tonearm. Which certainly is with the SL-Q2. And btw. the next level in overall quality and QOL features is the SL-1600MK2 and NOT the SL-1200MK2. And beyond that level true high end begind with the SL-P10MK models.... But prices rising exponentionaly and and rationality gives way to pure (f`ing expensive) hobby.

Do you mean the AT-VM95ML? Did a search and couldn't find any "AT-VML95ML".

@@marcuslewitzki4610 Yep,my mistake. Sorry. Anyway,the QL2/QL3 decks are worth to invest in a realy good MM/MC cartridge and a equally good phonostage (like f.e. Pro-Ject Phono Box DS2).

@@Zockopa I have the opportunity to get a SL-Q2 that comes with a "Ortofon 2m red". The guy is selling it for $240

@@marcuslewitzki4610 If its local and you can see for yourself that it is working fine and doesnt look like it was pulled out of a garbage bin get it. The red is a decent entry level cartridge that can be upgraded with the 2M Blue stylus. If its not local and you can not look at it in person imho the price is a bit high for buying the "cat in the poke".

I have the opportunity to buy an SL-Q2 that has been serviced and gone through completely and is in perfect condition. The guy who's selling it has installed a brand new Ortofon 2m red cartridge as well. He's selling it for $238. Would you say that's a good deal?
@steved112911 ай бұрын
In perfect condition, I'd say that's not a bad deal, especially with the new cartridge!
