I have a SL-PD667. As you may know, it is similar to the SL-P647. Mine only plays the disc in position 5. Now, the tray does rotate when I push the Disc Skip button--both with the drawer open and closed. Once I load the tray with 5 discs and close the drawer the issue begins. I can select any disc (1-5 position) and t will go to the selected disc position. However, when I push the play button, it always goes to the disc 5 position. Other than that, it sounds great. Any ideas? Thanks a million.

There is a censor eye that senses a disc in the tray. I would start there.

Hi, great channel! I just got one of these today from the local goodwill in it seem the 5 disk spinning tray wont turn?? Its like where the eye lens u cleaned is up not down slanted like yours keeping the tray from spinning?? I could take it bak in get my money still i got receipt. But if I can fix I will. With your expertise what do you recommend. Thanks n have a blessed day.

When you push the open button the laser tray should go down before it opens. Now if it's doing that and will not spin the disc when it's in that means the laser is bad or out of adjustment.

Thank u. I've recently watched ur video at least 5-6 different times. I completely took it apart in cleaned it I ended up just cleaning everything I could as well as grease it put it back together now it works about 70%??? Yes I seen that now the laser as u said goes down in I see what ur talking about! But now as u said in your video it's doing the thing where when I load a CD it will go to play it in it's like it fumbles playing the CD? The CD won't take off spinningas it should it just spins around a couple times unbalanced not level making that sound of a plastic disk scraping as you described?? But it does open in close perfect now. And thank u too for ur expertise and helpful reply! As u said it must be an adjustment thing?? Do u think it just needs maybe a new rubber square ring??? How do you test the adjustment with the multi meter? I'm not sure which points to touch because I'm getting completely random readings. And is is set to continuity or is that on 200 ohms? Thanks. Thing won't read a single CD and I'd like not to just trash it.

On the little pot one side has 1 leg and the other has 2. Test across the side with 2 legs.

I got a PD-847 just about the same time you made this video, and it's a great player, extremely similar to this one of course, and the only problem is that the platter sounds choppy when it's inside the machine and rotating within certain areas and directions. I gave it some De-Oxit on the platter teeth where the worm gear rotates against it, and it helped some but I probably need to get some lithium grease because I can see remnants of it on there.
