The integrated amp category is crowded for sure. There are a lot of great value amps out there at or around $1,000 that make great music with some decent feature sets. But this amp is different. It is just flat beautiful to look at with an appearance reminiscent of products from the glory days of audio in the 1970s. You get lots of inputs, with a great headphone amp, and tone controls to tame some of those old recordings that are great music but sound pretty rough. But the big deal is this LAPC circuitry. When you engage it, the system takes on this sense of effortlessness that just lets you hear really deep into tiny changes in the music. If you have speakers that are of moderate sensitivity in a medium-to-small room, its power will be plenty to make you happy. Technics has certainly turned the tables on what we have come to expect from all digital amplifiers. This amp is sweet and fun to listen to!

I love my Technics SU-G700. Very capable. Listened to a lot of amps at a local dealer who had my speakers in stock, and this beat out a Moon 240i, Naim NAIT 5SI, and a Marantz Model 30. I felt like the Technics was more engaging and precise than the other amps I listened to, on my Monitor Audio Silver 300s.

I have this amp. A couple things you need to know ....Thiers a Mk1 and 2 version . Only the Mk2 plays MC cartridges. I recommend the Dynavector 10.5xMK2 neodium MM cartridge for the MK1 . Im using JBL studio 590. This is a nuance amp and does not put out a ton of power like they suggest even with sensitive speakers so expect to use a subwoofer or external amp or both. The MM section is the real star here in this unit . I have a denon 58m and i have never heard a record played with the resolution and forward presentation this combonation can do and has great synergy thanks ro the gainfet d class and lapc mode . It will kill your vintage set up in every category sans raw output capability. This is really how it performs in the real world. A very enjoyable and unique integrated. I would use it with a powerful tube amp using the pre outs and a clean sub . Get the MK2 version .

I was in the market for a new Amp 2 months ago. To me in came down to the Yamaha A-S1200 and the Technics SU G700. I ended up with the Yamaha, my reasoning was that it is a class AB, it has slightly more watts and the biggest reason is because it doesn't have digital inputs that quickly turn your amps into outdated electronics. BUT I never heard the Technics and I'm still curious about it. The Yamaha is an extremely good amplifier, very clean, punchy, dynamic and extremely well built.

Does this amp turn on completely when the power cord is plugged in to a power socket? I need to know this, because everything in my set up has to auto power on. I cannot have devices needing to be turned on with a remote to get them out of stand by mode. Who knows about this?

I have had this amp in Black for about 6 months and it drives my Bowers & Wilkins 702 S2s very well in a medium size (230 sq. foot room) room and as these speakers are 8ohms nominal but dip down to about 3.5 ohms, the SU-G700 handles them with ease. I have a McIntosh MA-6300 powering KEF LS50 Metas in a smaller room with a different kit and this amp honestly doesn't sound as 'warm' as the MAC but it has an excellent pure tonal sound for about half the price and its feature set punches well above its weight. It also has the LAPC that truly adjusts the speakers' output nicely. I found that the built in MM phono stage so good, I replaced my Vincent phono stage with it. Since I use a ANIA cartridge, I added a Ortofon ST-7 stage to boost the MM signal for the low-output MC ANIA, and I saw no difference in the output. I added a AudioEngine B1 for streaming and the optical input is quiet and clean. The subsonic filter is superb, but I prefer the sound unmuffled and do not use the attenuator. With my Rega TT, the floor is already quiet without reducing the the dB in the source. This is a great unit for pure 2-channel hifi and is worthy of the audiophile designation. be sure to have quality components to connect to or you may be disappointed.

I am thinking about getting the G700 for my LS50 Metas. I was at a local dealer today and tried the cheaper Technics C700. While I liked the Sound signature, i felt a little lack of finesse, which I hope to get woth the G series. Have you ever tried this combination of G700 and LS50 Meta?
@marvinshaberesq.5072
@marvinshaberesq.5072 2 жыл бұрын
@@JBrm I believe that the SU-G700 will power the KEF LS 50s well. Also, they will be neutral sounding. I think this review by Audio Advice is coherent and honest. The KEFs are known as monitors or reference bookshelfs because they are neutral---if that is the sound you're seeking, then this amp is a great pairing. The B & Ws are floor standers and are driven to 90 Db without the amp even breathing hard. Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will be a nice kit with either of the components you have listed.

Cyril- great question. A receiver has a tuner (am/fm), a pre-amp, and power amp. An integrated amp, or amp as many call them does not have the tuner. The unbalanced amp does cause a reported 0.5% THD, but it runs as quiet as any amp rated at or below .08 in my experience. I think it has to do with the manner of the 3 separate shielded compartments and the fact that unbalanced audio running from short cabling/wiring is not distinguishable from traditional balanced outputs. I also think the JENO engine and the digital outputs also keeps the sound smooth in output as this video proves.

@@richardchorley1593 when a amp/preamp shares circuit board traces it absolutely affects the sound, and not in a good way.
