Do you need lining cloth under leather across fold ?

Great video and really helpful. I notice the the two panels that make up the writing slope are not hinged in the middle - is the leather acting as the hinge as well? I've got one that should be easy to restore - but that bit has puzzled me!

Yes, thats why you have to make sure the leather is well stuck down along the edges of the panels where they hinge. Occasionally you find strips of thin cloth have been stuck across the join under the skiver to give extra support, but not very often.

@@timpsk9440 wy don't you put a thin piece of material over the open section to strengthen joint before putting on the leather

...And the lining that SHOULD have gone UNDERNEATH the skiver - where the join meets??? Master of none.
