Great basics. To hold your body steady with the blades out of the water 1- put light pressure out on the oarlock with your hands, starting as you finish the drive. 2- as you go around the turn at the body and start the recovery your hands should lightly touch. If your hands separate vertically the balance of the boat will wobble. Keep up the great videos.

Now do sweep. Most chronic set problems are in larger boats.

@@Nill757 Read my comments on sculling again. In a sweep boat sync catch and finish timing.Recovery hand height must be level. THE motion of the finish must be the same. Some people don't tap their blades out of the water. You can either tap your blades out of the water ( i prefer that) or lower your hands slightly as you turn the handle. THat's a pulling motion at the finish. I call that washing out or a power off finish. I don't teach that. I teach to go around a turn ( conveyor belt) at the body and turn the handle as you start to go quickly away from the body. THe hands do not stop. Done together , this should help with balance as long as everyone is finishing with their body weight over the keel and not too much layback. Try rowing feet out to keep your body centered and not too much layback..

@@markborchelt2098 thanks. some crews famously lean into the rigger, eg the Bond Murray NZ 2-, Redgrave Pinsent 2-. Also I find older masters crews losing that sense of torso over keel a bit, leaning away, which coaches often miss from a launch alongside.

Okay, right don’t dynamically move the body back and forth, but bodies straight over keel is not the only way. The NZ 2- famously leaned each to their side, and so too the Brit 2- Redgrave and Pinsent.

what about having ur knees together?
@Nill757Ай бұрын
More important is not moving them side -side during the stroke, and esp not away from the oar in sweep
