I love how you were able to reheat the blade and use a rubber mallet to salvage the warp in the blade. The fact that you were able to catch that, and fix it, without ruining the blade, is a testament to your skill as an artisan. Again, beautiful craftsmanship. @@douro20 oh, he has. I've been following him for quite some time now. I grew up in my grandfather's smitty shop, and have been working steel myself for many years. I just find myself regularly impressed with many of the "old hand" techniques that Shurap uses. It's good to see that smithing is still one of the few things technology hasn't ruined.

очередное замечательное видео работы мастера. благодарю! вот только баллон с пропанием недалеко от горна и наковальни - мне как сварщику это серпом по "рельсам". я бы всё же устанавливал баллон за стенкой. на всякий пожарный случай. лягушка или редуктор если подтравливают - сами знаете что может случиться(я 1 раз тушил такой баллон - мне хватило) это не снобизм - это доброе пожелание.

@@zippymax1 lol...its illegal here but forbidden fruit is always sweetest. But yeah I was wondering how much his blades go for but when I went to the website it said he only ships to Russia. Nothing out of country...so now if u really want a blade, u would have to spend a few grand on the trip and then atleast 1 more on the blade. I’ve just started watching your videos. I love watching people forge! My only question is what is that liquid you dip your item you’re going to forge into before putting it in to get heated up?

The billet is soaked in kerosene. This is necessary for good welding (forging) steel. When burning inside the workpiece remains soot (carbon), which, with further heating, scales and rust inside the workpiece restores to the iron, improving the quality of forging welding.
