It's not really about specific knobs you turn in ableton, it's about creating a mental flow state of mind and maintaining it as best as possible. The upfront tips really are key to not make too many time-consuming mistakes which can even keep you away from creating music effectively completely. More or less strict rules to your environment and mentality can save you months of time to put elsewhere like having a look at other peoples techniques. For intuitive producers the masterclass is the perfect chance to get a good start and do things your way! There surely are even more people already in the middle of producing but often times they like to forget about everything that is not the music itself. Thank you BEC for your insights! It inspired me to finally add ableton to my workflow so I can focus more heavily on the energy created by just jamming on your machines. Even though limitation and knobs (can) bring fun, playing on a sample-based drum machine is not particularly easy when it comes to planning or creating your sample pool. Especially when you have to switch out bits of sounds later because you identified something bad that you missed. If I had the chance to ask a question to BEC I would have liked to hear a bit more about music theory she puts extra emphasis on or didn't pay enough attention in the past (or she finds hard to break the rules of successfully). Nothing worse than those details that can potentially add up in the end and either give enormous power or take it all off your tracks.

Thanks BEC for talking about the mindset and psychological aspects of creativity. Learning about mindfulness helps a lot, not just in music making and creativity, but all of life. Also recognising when you are getting bogged down or wasting time. Again, good life lessons

Well, she seems to have some clue what she's talking about. But just as all the other material out there this course shows basically nothing. Sure she shows off how to use some of the plugins she uses. But there arguably is a whole _world_ of difference between this and her actual tracks. So either she just refuses to talk about the details that make the difference between an amateur production and a professional one, or she doesn't know herself and has ghost producers (just like a lot of "producers" these days)..

I think a lot of them keep stuff to themselves, most other professions like to teach people skills to pass on knowledge but not the music industry it’s more of who you know than what you know.
@DelasVC
@DelasVC 7 ай бұрын
@@defectiveresistor Absolutely! The music industry is exceptionally secretive in that regard. It's _all_ about connections. That being said: you'd be surprised how many of the most successful artists have ghost producers..

@@DelasVC These guys do love to show off their plugins, courses and their sample packs, a more cynical person would probably just think they are all in it together, as for the ghost producing (something I’ve only recently discovered) I suppose it’s no different to a lot of singers, bands etc that don’t write their own music.
