@@asylumDAYS I got you. In the early 1990's,. (while in university) I traveled t Europe ~ever 3 months. I started to learn about Acid in Rome, Berlin, Belguim, and Prague. I brought records back here, studied them, and as I'd go back to Europe I would work with a variest of engineers and they taught me about Acid (squelching techniques on the 909, etc). So I brought that back here and it took off. Fast forward 25 years and I've started dropping little "for fun" beats but I assure you beginnig in March I'm about to kick this sh*t off. Trust me. p.s. When it comes to Techno Scene there is Berlin and everything else, no other place can even compare to what`s going on here. Many of the clubs usually work until there is people, they are not limited in other ways, so it is party non stop. And which clubs you should check, well...

I been partying in so many towns i could not number if i start counting, its not about bragging its just the life situation where i travel and move alot and i use the opportunity. Trust me when i say there is no city as Berlin, the quality and overall expirience it's unbelievable. Its not about mainstream or underground music its about clubs you choose , if you are in the right place trust me you will be served. The city has a special vibe , tourists are ussualy annoying, but the people who settle in the town percived the vibe and they become cool . Choose the right clubs , Zur Wilden Renate , Ritzer Bruzcke, Kate Blau and my absolute favourite Sysiphus! Always be kind , dressing code is important for the doormans it show how you feel about yourself. Dont buy drugs on the street , roll smart . Berlin is tehno ! Its the capital of the parties , so glad i had opportunity to exist in such an intense environment. Berlin ist tehno ! ✌️

no it's not the same, it is constantly evolving, like every form of music and basically everything in this world. it's not changing because of the drugs. there still is underground techno and will keep on existing and evolving because a lot of producers, labels, DJs and fans still truly love this sound and culture.

come to leipzig in germany. germans already call it the small berlin. the vibe here is pretty equal, techno clubs like institut für zukunft or elipamanoke are on the level of berlin clubs, i even have friends in berlin who visit for clubbing in leipzig. it’s cheaper, the techno is awesome, there are not that many tourists and you still get this familiar feeling

Great documentary. I also don't think Techno will ever die. It's been here for so long, across many generations. There's always going to be new fresh talent and ideas. I'm just glad we're out of that minimal phase that techno went through in the mid-late 00s.

Lived Los Angeles, London but living in Berlin has been so special. Best city to live and explore history. It will change you forever. You don't have to be rich to live in Berlin. I hope it stays as it is. I hear though the American and British way of living and their gready system is gradually coming in. Property investment companies are slowly taking away the freedom from the locals sadly.

@@unxylene there is to many ways I personally feel instagram is of no good actually. Above is only one of very good exemples regarding Berlin techno and all other artistic uncommercial scenes commented by Sphincenter. Same thing counts for Amsterdam, many cities, even a small city as Gothenburg where I live. Instagram is tool with purpose to maximize the expozion which in many cases leads to something called ricochet effect (Negative effects nobody wanted or expected to happen) In some cases used only to achive that effect. Again it's discusable what is negative and for who when it comes to different groups in society. For me everything of true value will be reckognized sooner or later even when it's not massexposed. True value is not measured in numbers and instagram is all about numbers. I don't even want to talk about how hollow and shallow it is in 99% of the cases. Again, this is just my opinion.

Underground? No club or party mentioned here is truly underground. Underground parties are those worth enjoying and not mentioning publicly. In Berlin, especially in summertime, small parties are thrown at night till morning time in hidden spots in public parks, 50 people or so, no need to show off. Just follow the bass :)

den Tresor kann man sich nicht mehr antun. Das Gefühl ist einfach nur noch strange. Völlig Touristen verseucht. Kam da einmal mit meinem Lederualsband und wurde den ganzen Abend begafft wie ein buntes Pferd und die Leute reden. Dabei ist Leder o.ä. völlig normal für einheimische Techno- Feiernde.

Techno, Industrial Underground, and so many other labels. You really have to go back to the roots and that would be the early 80s. I was a fan the first time I entered the infamous "Starck Club" in 1985. It was new, it flowed, and the beats seemed to match your own physical heartbeats. Then I started learning about the creators, many from Europe, just not mainstream. Vinyl was the foundation and it was hard to find. Bands like Vicious Pink, Microchip League, Ledernaken and Moskwa were unheard and hard to import. Then they became mainstream in the US club Scene.

I´ve been to these clubs in Brazil. They are spreaded over 1.000 km (Santa Catarina to Minas Gerais). Here in Berlin you find these clubs in an area of 10 square km ;-)

Some German and UK documentaries egregiously omit the historical fact that house and techno originated from US midwest - Chicago and Detroit respectively. These genres have spawned multi-billion Euro industries in those areas, so it's not surprising that some historical revisionism is taking place to give 100% credit to Europe for innovating these things. There's a rich cultural history behind house and techno and this documentary fails to make this connection for the viewer.

@@MrDskillz13 I don't know about the UK (where I'm from) but in Germany yes they are deliberately falsifying all kinds of stuff like films of clubs and events which they are backdating (there's no film of any techno clubs events anywhere in Germany pre 1991) or backdating mixtapes which is just ridiculous. If you listen to the ''Frankfurt tapes'' which are supposed to be pioneers of techno, like 1980s sets from the Dorian Gray club for example (even with Sven Vath djing before he got into techno) you'll just here commercial synthpop and new wave, and a bit of industrial or Belgian Newbeat towards the end of the 80s. Hardly any early Jack/House from Chicago or Techno from Detroit, or anywhere else for that matter.
