I used to rock the 16 Pro Max and the Pixel 9 Pro XL but recently sold the Pixel for the Vivo X200 Pro. Now I get a much better camera and while I lose 3 years of android OS updates (4 on Vivo vs 7 on Google), I’m perfectly happy as I no longer have to deal with the crappy base iPhone 12 performance at flagship prices of the Pixel. It’s ludicrous that that Google is charging premium prices for a 2020 flagship performance.

Long term Pixel user here that moved to the iPhone 16 in black + Watch Series 10 black, loving them for the most part, especially the Watch. Apple Messages app is some of the worse piece of software I've tried in a long long time. I tried using it with my partner and friend that are both apple fans and even they are discovering how crap it is. - You can drag to the right to reply to voice messages (you can do it with text messages, videos, links, etc) - Voice message icon on the right of the text input (the shortcut) gets stuck at 00:00 many many times - No Gif support - No sync with Messages from my other devices, so if I delete a chat on the phone, I have to delete it in my iMac and my MBA as well - Screen turns off while recording voice messages and the audio recorded either paused when the screen went off or is not there at all Seriuosly, even Google half baked Messages app is so much more intuitive and easy to use with almost every feature Apple Messages has. But the worst part of the software is the keyboard: - No comma or dot in default layout - No number row - No clipboard history - Abysmal auto corrector - Pretty bad suggestions for Spanish (English is okay, as it lacks letters with signs on top) - Pretty bad multilingual support despite latest improvements I'm also missing the call features like call screening, and others. I'm also trying to use Apple software but some of there are not up to Google's ones: - Apple Maps can't find many businesses and even streets! - Apple Translate lacks so many languages, it's beyond believe, it doesn't have Hungarian for example - Photos is nowhere near Google Photos, it's a mess. My wife is backing up photos to iCloud (2500 photos and videos) and is taking so long, and automatically pauses after a while, 24h later and still 1000 photos and videos not uploaded. There are other things I love about the iPhone though. - Video recording - Sharing screenshots and being able to delete them straight away without saving them in the first place - All Apple OS in all language receive updates at the same time - The ecosystem with different Apple devices and with Family share, and air tags, etc

The most fun I’ve had on an iPhone was the 13 mini. I loved the form factor. I now have the 15 pro and no way was I going to upgrade this year. I want a new mini or I’m moving over to android. And I’ve been using iPhone since the 3GS!

I've been using the pixel for a long time now. But the Vivo x200 pro for USD700 where I live, is a good draw for me. Google has been on a trend of making better AI, instead of better phones. Unfortunately, I belong to that group that's just tired of hearing AI everywhere. Additionally, the pixel photos have started to look way too processed for me and it keeps getting more processed every year. In my line of work, I tend to zoom and crop on some pictures I take and the digital noise and artifacts is just in abundance lately. It's still a good phone for what seems to be $900-$1000+ but I shouldn't be paying that much for something that's "just a phone" - especially if I'm gonna use my phone for both work, travel and recreation. If I'm paying $100 for a meal, I wanna be paying for a buffet, not a branded pasta.

No it's not still true. Apps used to suck on Android and crashed alot. Android has matured a lot and apps are pretty equal now. New apps still tend to come out on iPhone first which can be annoying.

Come on Jon QPR1 update isn’t even updated on your Pixel in the video which enhances so many things especially the brand new animation on Pixel. Experience is much better with December update (QPR1) all in all. Also 16 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro owner here.. for non “Max and XL” variants, Pixel 9 and 9 Pro has noticably better battery life than standard 16 and 16 Pro. It’s objectively better for smaller variants.

Last year, I switched from Android to iPhone. I switched from the 9-year-old OnePlus One to the iPhone 15. *I knew that the iPhone 15 had 60Hz refresh.* I didn't care. I had been used to 60Hz for over a decade. This refresh rate was perfectly okay with me. Yes, I've played with 120Hz refresh devices. I was wholly unimpressed. So does it bother me that a $799 phone has 60Hz refresh? Not at all. Unlike some people, I'm not anal about it.

If you do resell your phones when upgrading, getting a pixel doesn't necessarily save you money as the iphone will have a higher value so you can make back more of the money you spent when compared to the pixel 9. I personally haven't resold any of my phones yet but that is something to consider. On top of that, money isn't the only thing to consider here when talk about the cost of the phone. How much personal data does Google collect from Pixel phones? If you value you personal data, that should be considered as a part of the price you pay, and even though Apple also collects some personal data, it seems like they collect far less than Google. I personally am not sure whether I prefer paying more for less data collection or not yet, but definitely should be considered imo.

Pixel phones are nice when new and then fall off faster as their chips are inferior from the get go. That is the main reason for not seeing any pixel 6,7,8 long term user videos. Iphone is not a smartphone, take for example when i am typing on my s24 i can write a text message on my mother language, and write an email on English and the keyboard just automatically shift over on english. Try that on an apple device😅 you have to manually shift keyboard every time. Iphone are for children and old people.

In the end, Face ID is a game changer. I will never use a fingerprint on a phone, they just slow me down and annoy me. The fact that you can Face ID lock any app on the phone is just a big bonus. Otherwise, phones are getting so good, it’s more about iOS vs android than anything else.
