Useful in large metro areas with bigger booms, I'm sure. Congrats to Putz for bringing on the tech. I would probably freak out trying to trust it though. Thanks again Scott!

Most definitely. Most of our work is in the downtown core. My prediction is that those whom choose not to evolve with technology such as this eventually find themselves trailing behind the rest of the industry. We shall see.

This is going to be a game changer. Putz putting this system on the 56m is going to allow the large booms so much more flexibility. Now if they could figure out how to get us the equipment that's been ordered....
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 2 жыл бұрын
I could not agree with you more. Finally we have viable options for eventually upgrading our aging 58-5 Putz, which until now, could not be replaced with anything new due to its unique short-rigged working range. 63-5 is too heavy for our roads, but a 56-5 with this system is now tops on the wish list!!!
@dylanwoods523

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 putz 63-5 is probably my favorite big boom to short rig. With the suicide front riggers really allows for a few more options and a little extra working range while short rigged. Sucks you can't use it but with this new stuff I'm curious to see what it can really do. May be a while till I find out, we just got a new 51-5 Beton Star
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
@@dylanwoods523 Our 58 has the same front outriggers and I swear we utilize them on the vast majority of our pours. I'm assuming Putz is getting away from them due to weight, as well as production costs. I'm thinking/hoping that this new system could actually surpass capabilities of the "suicide outriggers". Let me know what you think of the Betonstar, seems like a great group of people they've got over there and the machines look to be built quite nicely.

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 we have a few 42-5 and 47-5 Betons they seem to still be trying to work out a few of the kinks in their designs I think those are the '21 models. This 22-23 seems nice I poured the first 200 yards out of it. Nice pump kit, hydraulics on the boom seem stronger than the previous year. Still don't have much experience with them but seems like they are trying to get where putz was in the late 2000s

I enjoy new technology, but if a sensor fails one time, it could be bad news. Setup aren't usually an issue for us, but I can definitely see this working very well on tight jobsites.
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for the seemingly never ending big-boom jobs in our downtown core, this setup would be amazing. Most pours downtown we end up with the first couple of boom sections straight vertical anyhow. This would/will be an absolute game changer for our business.

I already did some crazy stuff short rigging with the 47 by following the rules and the knowledge I have, but only when necessary, my pump is 2016, it doesn’t have the system,wich it makes it little be more of a challenge but once you know your equipment and what you can do with it it’s amazing
@danielrosenberg290

Amazing just really wanted to know though parking on a hill or out of the 3degree bubble does that compromise it's range again. And I know he said 1&2 stage in on bigger booms but never said about configuration does it have to be in a z fold or can you do roll fold configuration with it as z fold would hold a touch more weight unlike roll fold where you can have 3 up 2 down ? Just thoughts you know but amazing technology truly
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 2 жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge the machine must be set within 3 degrees to utilize this system (same rule applies for conventional pumping anyhow). You can configure the boom any which way you like (Z or roll) but I could see the Z formation possibly allowing for more reach/working range. My only one concern with setting up on hills is that typically when levelling up on a downgrade, the rear tires are pinned down into the asphalt, having to remove load from the rear suspension would make levelling the machine much more challenging. Worst case scenario, I just run it like a normal pump, same as what I’ve been doing for the past 20+ years 😂

They’ve been using a much more complex iteration of this same system in Europe for close to 10 years. It has been simplified for our North American market. It utilizes only 4-6 sensors (depending on pump size), 2 of which have virtually zero moving parts. If we had it our way in North America, new vehicles would still be carbureted 😂😂😂

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 its just farr too much technical shit man. Do you remember the good old simple days of a black and white schwing system? Why the added parts that can go wrong??

@@lioneljosecastillo I don't mind the newer innovations which replace moving/wearable parts with electronic pieces. Definitely makes diagnosis for old dogs like us a bit more a challenge however. My first pump was a black 'N white1989 Putz 32 meter (a real Cadillac in comparison to the Thompsen with toggle switches, as the senior operators of that time would constantly remind me). I remember the day when one of the pins for the air over hydraulic boom valve assembly fell partways out, jamming on the right slew function, and I'm running back to the cab of the truck as fast as possible to kill the engine before the boom swings into the neighbors house. That same pump the mixer driver would hit the E-stop, and the pump would just keep on stroking, Lol! Ahhhhh the good old days 😂😂😂

It is another tool to get the job done safely. Should you choose not to take advantage of it, that’s your business, should you choose to operate your pump as shown in the video but without said systems in place, that becomes the business of anyone within booms reach as well as their families. Why as operators are we so resistant technology? They’ve been using similar systems in the crane industry for decades. Get with the times gentlemen or evolve like the dinosaurs.

Our newest Putz is a 2019 model, so I can only speak to that, but I will say that it has been far superior to some of our older models. I cannot disagree that there will inevitably be some “hybridization” going on, but so long as the Germans keep tight reigns on quality control and engineering, I don’t think it will be an issue. Seeing as most everything we use in our day to day lives is now manufactured in China, I’m actually quite surprised at the large percentage of an assembled Putzmeister machine which still comes out of Germany and/or Turkey.
