You'll find the guide pegs will also come out so that they can stack like any standard hive and mix & match with other brands. Also you'll find inside two more entrance bars come with it that interchange with the pre-fitted removable entrances to act as entrance reducers at the front. I would imagine these make it easier for the bees to defend the hive. The really clever thing about Technoset boxes is their versatility. They are spefically designed to create both a double and triple nucs. You'll notice two divider slots built in. You have to buy them as extra equipment from Technoset. There's a whole range of parts that you can retrofit which in my opinion makes them so versatile.

I have two of these and used witu a mixed success last year. The hive is a very solid piece of kit. You can hse it as 8 frames Langstroth or two 4 frame nuc or 8 mini nuc. The idea js to install the frame in a nuc or huve and the transfer in Q8 (folded) once the mini nuc is hopefully queenless you can then install a grafted QC plus you have an individual enterance and feeder.

Hopefully the collapsing and extending of the frames will become easier with use, but time will tell if this is true especially when wax/propolis comes into play

Hmmm think I’ll stick to apideas that looks like that’ll be messy when looking for the queen with those folding frames apart from that they look good.

Trouble is there is no UK distributor for the majority of the Technoset range. I looked at their website and it doesn’t exactly encourage you to order. Could not find a way to get items into the outbasket, at least for a UK destination which is a shame. The basic kit looks so much line the Anel range, it does make you wonder who came first. Price wise, there doesn’t seem to be any difference.

@@BlackMountainHoney I wonder whether they deliberately over tolerence so they wear to fit rather than come too loose from the beginning. It only takes a few minutes to sand them down to fit snugly.
