My Eizo CG276 does that either. And I got it used for only 150 bucks. Sure, no 4K only 2560x1440 and DCI with 92% but that’s more than enough. And it passes all the tests easily. 😉

@mrzdendax I want a 32-inch quality monitor for photography. 2 monitor setup is cool, but my computer is in the living room, so my wife's approval rating is very important 😅 I built my new PC inside Fractal Design North white mesh case to match the oak front panel to our furniture and wall paint 😀 also my old PC was loud, so I had a good excuse to get all Noctua chromax fans inside the case.

Great Video! BenQs are great and have awesome colours out of the box!! But when you have issues, their customer service is less desirable. I have an older SW2700PT, and when I had an issue with my monitor they did nothing to help me. Customer service refused to warranty my monitor and gave little assistance to me. Didn't even supply me with any authorized places to get the monitor serviced, I was absolutely crushed!

I'm hesitating between this and a much cheaper ASUS PROART PA279CRV (also adobe calibrated) -- have you managed to test the ASUS at all? If I get the ASUS I can have a twin monitor setup, but the BenQ does seem to be more 'industry standard'. I previously returned the Proart 329c as 32 inches was too big for my eyes!

The Asus looks nice, but doesn't have hardware calibration. And don't expect the Asus to be on the same level, especially when it comes to uniformity.
@Synchrodipity
@Synchrodipity 2 ай бұрын
@@akyhne I think it is hardware calibrated, but I got the BenQ anyway and have absolutely no regrets - it's superb.
@akyhne
@akyhne 2 ай бұрын
@@Synchrodipity The Asus is software calibrated. The difference between software and hardware calibration, is, that with a software calibration you use a colorimeter (hardware) and a software, usually the one that comes with the colorimeter or 3rd party. The outcome of such a calibration, is an ICC profile - a software file that you use to load into the operating system. For your software to take advantage of a software calibration - the ICC profile - the software must support it. By far all software supports an ICC color profile. A hardware calibration is done in exactly the same way. You use a software working with a hardware colorimeter. Difference is, you generate a 3D LUT file. This is loaded into your monitor and in essence goes into the monitor and adjust the display, like if you used the monitor's own controls. Except this is way more advanced and (usually) way more accurate, than a software calibration. That's not the only benefit. The major benefit is, that your entire desktop is now "calibrated". Your video player don't have to support calibration, your browser don't have to and so on, as everything you see on the screen is taking advantage of the calibration. If you use software calibration, even if the software you are using supports it, in some cases it has to be set up manually. Hardware calibration is hassle free. The alternative to a monitor or TV with hardware calibration, is a 3D LUT box, that you connect between the GPU output and the TV/monitor. It's a good enough option for a good display with no built-in 3D LUT box, but hardly any better on a cheap monitor than a software calibration. After all, a calibration can't fix the performance (accuracy) of a cheap display. But you can use an external 3D LUT box with any TV or monitor with HDMI/Displayport. They are not cheap though. $3-500 for the cheapest ones.

I am using BenQ's SW and PD line since 2016 and just few things to mention... If you don't have budget to buy calibration device, don't buy this and buy older and cheaper Sw270c or SW271 with calibration device. If you need accurate colors you'll need to calibrate the monitor every now and then at least after every system update. 27" 4K monitor is waste of money for photos only... Its meant for photos and videos. I find it better to run 27" 2K SW line monitor for photos with secondary 27“ 4K PD line. The problem of 27“ 4K for photo editing is that your pixels are way to small and so are your photos. Preparing photos for social media presentation for example Instagram your preview of the photo will be way too small... I find 27" 2K SW line perfect for photo editing and all my panells in photoshop are on my second display Great video btw... You are one of the few who really address things the right way and don't confuse ppl with 10bit color as it is 8bit +FRC ( flicker rate control) Have a nice weekend! Keep up the good work 😊

The way you describe the calibration, is mighty confusing. You made it sound like it had hardware calibration, because you can use a (hardware) colorimeter. Although I know that most BenQ, if not all, have hardware calibration (built-in 3D LUT box), i had to check on their website for this monitor, because of the confusion. Both software and hardware calibration uses software and hardware (colorimeter or spectroradiometer).

Nice monitor but it is missing a display port out. I have a couple of Dell 2k 27" photography monitors with 2 display port in and display port out. It links the usb and audio, so I can have 2 pc with dual monitors and my tablet and keyboard mouse connected to the monitors with audio. One tap on the monitors switches PC's so my desktop and laptop can easily be set to use the same monitor keyboard audio setup. It's too bad these companies don't offer this, as a lot of us photographers and videographers have desktop and laptop and need to quickly switch between both

@@Z_EOS thanks. What Dell did was to include 2 usb inputs and 2 display port inputs (regular and mini) with a display port out so it's easy to switch between 2 pc. The sw can handle this , but I only saw 1 display port in and so i am not sure it supports chaining 2 monitors from a single display port in. Using hdmi means you lose the ability to switch inputs to both monitors i think. Hdmi does not support monitor chaining.

I have an Eizo 1080p 98% SRGB color gamut monitor with built in self calibration 20" It's seven years old. Think there's any good reason to upgrade? I don't print my work very often so ten bit is not necessary and my clients are mostly viewing the images in SRGB. I thought maybe a larger monitor might be nice. Also l know it's less than ideal but I do game with the same screen.

Look at gaming monitors. Some of them are impressively color accurate and support 100% (or very close) sRGB. Since you are used to a 20”, a 27” will seem massive to you, so I wonder if a 24” would be a better choice? I'm also thinking if it's a 4/3 monitor you have now, because of the odd size. In that case, go for a 27”. A 20” 4/3 is about the same display size vertically, as a 24” 16/9. In other words, text and GUI will have roughly the same size. Buy a monitor with at least, at the minimum a refresh rate of 75 Hz and 120 Hz if you can. Even going from 60 to 75 Hz is noticeable. Just remember to set the monitor to actually use the refresh rate 😉 Some people own gaming or high refresh rate monitors for years, then realize it was never running more than 60 Hz. Even if your PC is too slow to take advantage of the higher refresh rate in gaming, you will have a much smoother experience. Although these gaming monitors can be very accurate, they are not on the level with grading/photo monitors. And don't worry about the gaming side of it. Of course you wear the monitor down quicker, because it is more on, but we buy things to use them, right?!
