could you make a "cooler performance per liter" showing how "space-efficient" (or inefficient lol) these cards are? i.e. basically a noise / temperature / size (and power?, but just divide or something) normalized comparison

i.e. by dividing the Watt TDP by the liters/volume the 5080 FE is 211 "Watts per liter", the Gainward Phoenix is perhaps >30% behind, but then normalize these numbers with the noise normalized temps (and then you could do it with other cards, i.e. the 5090 FE is 50% better before adjusting for cooler performance, but perhaps there is a large 5090 that is "on par" with the 5080 FE

2:39 You've made an error here. The RGB header on the Zotac Amp Extreme Infinity isn't for controlling RGB devices. It is to allow the cards RGB to be controlled by your motherboard! 10:45 The MSI card has a lower power draw because it's the only card that ships with it's VBIOS set to "silent" by default; the power and temperature targets are lowered accordingly.

It varies by the same models, it's a bit useless to put in. Can search about any graphics card model and find people who got unlucky with bad coil whine, while others have none on that model. I'm not saying it isn't an issue but at the same time it's not something that can be predicted for each card based on a single sample.

@ Not sure about you, but in my eyes some people having no whine and some having a lot is quite a bit of variance between the same models and can't just be brushed off. Considering I always find coil whine complaints looking into most cards, I personally don't want to go off of random people saying "X brand has more coil whine" until someone actually scientifically looks into large sample sizes of different brands, not a single reviewer just stating they had none (that they could hear)

With 16GB of Vram I think I'll settle for the 9070xt. Most likely that will have the best fps/$. Interesting to see the 5000 series but I think they are holding back fir a super revision .

This makes sense for gaming if their RT catches up. Currently, the 7900xtx beats the 4080 Super in rasterization and loses to the OG 3080 in RT. It then loses to the 3070 Ti if you go path tracing. If you don't seek graphical showcase games, then it makes sense again.

MSRP is 1179€ in my country. Almost all if not all the cards featured here are premium models that are around 350 to 400€ over the MSRP in my country. They cost 33% more for a couple of more fps, 3°c cooler and a little more quiet. I'll be waiting to see the Ventus, Prime and Windforce reviews, I can't be bothered to pay 33% premium for running 4°c cooler and very slowly quieter. Hopefully you guys will get them soon. I know Nvidia is squeezing their partners margin but a 33% increase in price so they can get better margin is just insane...

4080 Super could be bought at MSRP in my country (EUR 999) for quite a while. 5080's MSRP seems to be just under EUR 1200 for the entry-level cards. So 20% price increase for, what? roughly 10 percent of added performance? What a deal! And no: Nvidia don't get to claim that the 5080 didn't increase in price. The 4080 Super not only exists, but it also took over from the 4080 when it launched a year ago. 4080 and 4080 Super weren't meant to be sold alongside each other - one replaced the other.

i hate that people keep asking this, if a reviewer experiences coil whine it doesnt mean you will too. whether any of the cards had coil whine or not should not be the detemining factor for your purchase! many people say x brand or x gpu has more coil whine, but it hasnt been actually tested yet, and until then all these statements should not be taken into account.

Hopefully you will get Asus 5080 Prime OC. The most affordable 5080 with dual bios, vapor chamber and SFF compatible. But it costs the same as founders edition, at least outside U.S, where FE cards are not available.

Finally got a rtx 5080. Its the gigabyte rtx 5080 windforce sff. I only realized afterwards that it is an sff version. I didn't even know what sff was. It's a little smaller than the normal version. Does the performance suffer as a result? So is it slower than normal 5080 cards? It's still bigger than my current gigabyte rtx 2070 super gaming oc 3x. Years ago they were considered lower quality but in last few generations they were quite good. I am not big fan of the designs but their cooling is really good for the price and from what I've read, they tend to not have coil whine (who knows how's this gen tho). They are one of the few manufacturers that didn't have any faulty cards or scandals in last few years. If the price is good and you like the design it's a great choice! I myself ordered Palit Gamerock yesterday.

I don't really care if they're currently in stock or not... unless you're a tech reviewer you don't need to have a new GPU (or any other new product, really) on launch-day. What I do care about is price/value for money and in this regard, both the 5080 and 5090 are complete let-downs, IMO. Decent gains on the 5090 (apparently achieved more via "brute force" than anything else) and pretty laughable gains on the 5080 - and for a hefty price increase on both cards. Now, that's what I call progress ... for Nvidia's coffers and/or Jensen's leather-jacket collection. I really thought Nvidia had learned their lesson when they sneakily lowered the ridiculous price of the OG 4080 via the 4080 Super, but apparently, I was wrong. And people all over the world lining up in front of stores to help themselves to this tripe seems to validate Nvidia's course of action. As a species, we really aren't as smart as we like to think.

It even beats the RTX 4090 in some titles with these overclocks the RTX 5080 has massive overclocking headroom unlike the RTX 4090 which has very very small overclocking headroom which is normal for higher-end GPUs like the RTX-4090 and RTX-5090 because they have already been pushed to the max on conventional air cooling and water cooling and used RTX 4090 are $1500 more expensive then the RTX 5080.

They are very similar. The performance difference is mostly MSI positions the Suprim as a quiet card and makes that the default and the Vanguard has performance as default. Suprim is more premium but they are only $20 apart and performance is pretty close when OC.

ComputerBase has tested both the RTX 5090 Astral and RTX 5080 Astral and reports that the fourth fan is terrible on both cards. The cards are surprisingly loud overall for such a premium model and the backside fan in particular is extremely annoying.

I wish you compared the palit gamepro version too. Idk what the difference is between the gamepro and the gamerock version. The OC versions seem to have a slightly higher boost clock. But other than that everything seems to be identical. The neither the gamepro or gamerock look that nice but the gamerock esp looks horrendously ugly in my opinion. Not that it matters.

Seen a oc vid it oced great, thattells me if they bring out an S model, it will be stronger than the regular model as default, and since a regular 5080 when overclocked is right behind a monster 4090, the S model will be stronger than a 4090, and then if they bring a Ti, that model will be even stronger, and both of these monsters will be cheaper than buying a 4090 and will make these the best go-to cards, not the 5090.

@@ItzTheDay the gigabyte gaming oc is the only one that can utilize up to 400w. Its the most powerful (along with the Astral) when OC according to their reviews on the website.

@@TechPowerUp Wish we had temperature/noise situation on those OC charts, it would be really helpful to see if these low temperature models like Suprim still keeps their low temperature and quiet state when they gain those %12 more performance. Please add those metrics if its possible at least for next tests if you cant for already tested ones.

IMO, whoever has the 40 series is good. Won't make sense to upgrade to 50 series. I'd say it'd make more sense if one has the 30 series or under. Im hqppy with my 4080 super.

Since the 5090 FE and 5080 FE were practically not available at all here in Germany I went for any 5080 AIB card that didn't have an astralnomically high price (ha, I did a thing there). I was able to snatch a Palit 5080 GameRock and I'm really glad to see that it seems to be one of the better AIB cards.
