Interesting to hear about cpu bottlenecking. Early on with the 4090 I discovered and explained to many in the Stable Diffusion community why my perf with my 5.8GHz i9-13900K was so much better than what they had. But there are ways to work around that with batching or compiling the model. Also note that Ubuntu seems so much more efficient than windows when driving the GPU to the max. I wish you had included the GIGABYTE - AORUS GeForce RTX 5090 MASTER ICE 32G in the review. It has a 2.407 GHz base clock and 2.655 GHz boost clock. If I can spend a couple hundred on the great liquid cooler that boost rate is a significant increase over the FE. What I don't understand is the MSI suprim liquid specs.. They don't give a base clock. Just some Extreme(?) Perf at 2497 using MSI Center. And the boost is actually slower at 2482 MHz ??? I might be happier with a base clock of 2.4GHz vs some Extreme Perf mode fry-your-gpu mode that hits 2.497 GHz. 2.4 is a great base clock and the Gigabyte has a great boost rate. So I wish that was included in the comparisons.

A good method to give a relative feedback from coil whine noise is to drop power % and see when coil whine disappear. So on strix 4090 I can hear coil whine close to the card even if power is dropped to 40%, but on gigabyte 4090 gaming oc at 93% power there is no coil whine even if your ear is very close to the card.

5090 FE will be the smallest, but also the loudest, and perhaps the hottest temperature GPU of the entire market-wide lineup, but it will have the lowest MSRP price tag of $2,000. Most other GPUs will have MSRP's of $2400, $2450, $2500, $2600, and even $2800 MSRP's. But we all know the GPU shortage is going to continue, and that we're looking at 100% markups on the scalper market. I truly believe we're going to face the first ever $5,000 market average price tag for the 5090. I'd be shocked if NVIDIA stepped up to the plate and started making enough of them.

"Gamerock".... of Gibraltar. As impressive as the dimensions of the 5090 FE are for a card this powerful (and power-hungry) ... the partner cards seem to want to have none of that and simply chose the "ludicrously large and heavy" approach. Which makes the AiO cards more attractive than ever, I suppose. You can get around a +10% performance when using an AIB card and doing an overclock on the core and memory from what I've seen, which is not bad, makes the 30% performance gain over the 4090 a 40% gain, which starts to look better.
@USMCGUY202014 күн бұрын
You can also overclock the 4090 which brings the performance gain back down to 30%.
@Hullbreachdetected14 күн бұрын
The uplift vs FE is normally between 5-10% depending on PCB design, plus quiter/cooler core temps thanks to better cooling solution. Getting stable +10% is excellent OC result, you mostly get single digit gain. So expecting +10% is a little too optimistic. Another important thing is pricing, as the AIB premium can be ridiculously high. Considering all 5090s are 600W limited due to single PCIe socket, we won't see much difference between these AIB cards since 575W limitation can be adjusted to 600W for all of them, so the difference in performance should be miniscule. Considering that, I would personally look for either better acoustics/thermals and pricing. If the Palit Gamerock OC will be at or less then +10% premium above FE msrp then it seems to be a better option as long as I put a heatkiller block on it. If I wanted aircooled option then MSI suprim soc. But really there's plenty other options as only a fraction of 5090s have been reviewed so far. I would wait for all of them to be reviewed and prices announced.

Apples to oranges on that performance per dollar. Lets see if these things end up with a street price south of 3k. So it looks like, for all the greatness of the new design and reasonable hopes that it will inform future ones, the cooling on the FE is simply too conservative and ends up subpar compared to the ones that went ahead and kept to a bigger frame. That is too bad. They probably could have stretched it out a bit more to 2.5 slot or so and been competitive while still coming in smaller than the rest.

I am so excited to see the 5080 benchmarks, and buy a 5080 asap and sell my 7900xtx. Im so sick of FSR after past 2 years. Time for some creamy silky DLSS4.
@formulaic7814 күн бұрын
You might want to curb your enthusiasm on 5080 benchmarks. It's not a card to get excited about. 5070ti seems slightly more exciting due to better value. The 5080ti in 12 months will probably be more exciting but no better value.

Other than the FE, Which models Have DisplayPort 2.1B?
@TechPowerUp14 күн бұрын
All the cards should have DisplayPort 2.1b.

@TechPowerUp Gamers Nexus review of the MSI 5090 Supreme SOC stated it having DP 2.1A, could have been a mistake. MSI's own website lists it as having 2.1b

Do we know when TVs will be able to make use of this? My B9 OLED might need replacing soonish.
@jnvivian14 күн бұрын
@@Entheo_Wolf There is no difference between DisplayPort 2.1a and 2.1b on the video card side. 2.1b adds active DisplayPort cables that can amplify signals that are in transit in active cables, allowing for longer and faster cables.

Considering the probable lack of availability of any RTX5090 cards for most consumers, I'll be satisfied with a pink WAIFU card for $2,600 plus tax and shipping.

The partner cards are DOA to me and I assume the FE will be sold out because $2000 is just for hype pricing. Basically a dead generation to me as a 4090 owner.

Imagine paying $800 over msrp for the astral, just for it to run louder and hotter than a card $500+ cheaper with a negligible performance difference
