You guys are AMAZING!! What a great vibe. Great knowledge drops and video edits, too! 🎉

15:07 You don't need the audiate project anymore... but I would copy the text and save it in case you want to dump the transcript into KZbin or plain text for a blog post...

Awesome video guys! This was so helpful. Unfortunately I work at Super Wienie Hut Jr. where if I'm lucky, we MIGHT use workflow #1. I learned from all the workflows. Thanks for organizing the video in progressive workflows that are probably common for people who DON'T work at SWHJ. 🙂

Question: when you delete the ums and ahs, doesn't this create jerky head movement? It seems like silencing them is better because you don't have the head jerking. Does that question make sense? Thanks
@TroyStein10 ай бұрын
great question. it makes perfect sense. If you've got camera video and a boat-load of umms, you will get a lot of jump cuts. For some, the number of jump cuts feels comfortable b/c of the heavy usage of that video style in social media. For others, it's too much . In that case, the old stand-by move is to overlay b-roll (or some graphic) on top of that section of the camera video. As someone who has filmed a lot of real experts, I've spent a LOT of time editing them to make them sound truly expert. And then I end up covering up those cuts with a mountain of b-roll to cover a mountain of umms. :)

Great stuff, thanks for making this! Is there any chance that we can download one of your example Camtasia projects with a complex timeline like the one in scenario 3 so I can see how you guys build a highly professional training video?

It's just too bad that the subscription for Audiate ($200/yr) is inconsistent with the maintenance fee for Camtasia (~$50/yr).

@camtasia When you edit out text etc and create jump cuts as a result in your video - Can you add jump cut markers in Audiate which then appear in the Camtasia Timeline? Otherwise you still need to watch through the video and do a video split where the jump cut occurs.
@techsmith7 ай бұрын
If you've sent your video from Camtasia into Audiate, then when you hit "Sync" and go back into Camtsia, it will edit the timeline (video as well) for you!
@elephasltd7 ай бұрын
@@techsmith yes - but that doesn't answer the question. When you delete a section of transcript or a filler word is there a way to insert markers in the transcript so when back in Camtasia you can easily see the jump cut positions. Otherwise you still have to watch the entire video and add timeline splits at each jump cut to have a new view to prevent the awful jarring. With Descript it's a simple / in the transcript that automatically creates a new scene.
@techsmith7 ай бұрын
@@elephasltd Ahh, I see. No, there's not currently a marker system in place.

@@techsmith means Audiate doesn't simplify my production process over Descript :(
@LiLaLizzy87 ай бұрын
@@elephasltdHi there. Would you recommend descript? Could you explain if what you mean that Audiate is not doing? I have been using Camtasia and have been thinking about upgrading to the latest Pro version, but I definitely want to have a text based editor and was hoping Camtasia can now do everything. Thank you.

If you can’t finish all the edits in Audiate in one sitting, how would you save the edits you have already done and then pick up again the next day?
@techsmith5 ай бұрын
Just as you said, you'd save the Audiate project. Before you move a project from Camtasia into Audiate, Camtasia forces you to save it. Then before you send back, Audiate would force a save. But if you're not done, just close the software and it will ask you to save it.

@@techsmith Apologies I should have been clearer. So I have my Camtasia project, I’m editing the audio with Audiate and it’s linked, I don’t finish editing would I save and sync then close Audiate, then save and close Camtasia? Then open Camtasia when I’m ready to continue and click on edit in Audiate again? I’m just checking as I have had a few issues. Thank you.
@techsmith5 ай бұрын
@@squareggs Based on what I'm reading from your explanation you shouldn't even need to sync with Camtasia until you're done with all edits. You can save and not sync. Just save where you're at with Audiate since they're still linked, and then when you go back in and make your final Audiate changes, THEN you can sync back with Camtasia. You can sync in the middle too, but you shouldn't need to. Basically the answer is, "You can do it either way you like."
@Reeper-x6x10 ай бұрын
Audiate costs a fortune. It doesn't matter how well it works with Camtasia, it should be included with Camtasia.

can you change the size of the captions on these videos or is it a set standard. I understand the need and benefit of captions but so many times when I'm watching video with captions I find that it's so overpowering at times that I miss visual areas of the video because it's being covered up by those captions
@techsmith9 ай бұрын
As the video creator, yes, you can adjust the scale and font size (and color and other properties).

Great video, thank you very much guys. However, one major caveat - “when it works”. I have done editing in Audiate and pressed the sync button only to find out that it does not sync (takes forever) or it crashes. This happened on more than one occassion. I checked the forums and there are many others complaining of the same problem. While the concept is great, this product(s) is not production ready.

The first thing we say is always make sure that Camtasia's Auto-Updating is turned on (or go and check for Updates regularly) as when bugs are discovered, we do our best to implement quick fixes and update the software. The sync works great, but if you're on a version with a known bug, it needs updating. Beyond that if you're still having issues please let our tech support team know, because you shouldn't be: bit.ly/techsmith-help

Same here. I have too many "right?" instead of "you know". Thanks for the tip @DrHaley 👍
