Literally me. I was promised a haven of "freedom" and less ram usage blabla bla linux isn't hard. It's moving on from windows that is hard. What a load of bs. Took me literally more than 2 days to learn and setup linux and i was greeted with the inability to access any of my drives. After hours of searching asking questions on the forum and either not getting the answer i wanted or getting called stupid. I can say it's safe to say if you're someone who isn't into computers. Do not use linux. You're wasting your time literally because of how long it is to setup anything

I like your method, but don't want to delete Mint. I'd only use Windows for a few occasional purposes. I'd prefer using Windows 7 Ultimate, due to size and simplicity. I have an ISO file & supposedly good number for it. I can't get the install to run right though... yet. I have an MSI B550M MoBo and an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU. I already have Mint running in one partition on an M.2 SSD. Mint is my main OS. I want to put Windows on a 2nd partition on the SSD. The data both will use is on a separate HDD formatted in NTFS. It appears if I install Windows onto a 2nd partition on the SSD I could dual-boot into it, though Grub might have to be changed by something like EasyBSD.exe under Windows. What say you, sir?

Please did you copy the windows 10 iso file you downloaded and paste it in the flash drive?
@TechSolvePrac2 жыл бұрын
Yes. But the iso file should be extracted using DD command or balena etcher or Rufus software for pasting the extracted files in the usb. Directly pasting the iso file will not do.

Will my old data or files get deleted if i do this method? Or ia there any way to transfer the files to Windows.
@TechSolvePrac3 жыл бұрын
Yes. This process will wipe your hard disk and install windows afresh. You have two options: A. Copy your data to an external drive and copy them back after installing windows B. Install windows over linux mint in dual boot mode. Refer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6DIl2VrorSMhtU

i was running Windows 7 and used bootable linux mint pen drive and open gparted there i found an almost empty 15gb drive out of which 1-2 gb was used and i deleted it , it wad sd1 drive and i then on boot menu it asked boot into linux mint or windows on sd1 , when i click on windows it's showing drive is having some error but on linux windows files are present now bootable pen drives aren't getting detected too , I've tried with rufus and your method in linux mint using command promt too, do you think the drive i deleted had some important files which i deleted?
@TechSolvePrac4 жыл бұрын
SD1 is generally the primary partition on which your First Operating System is installed. You may have accidentally deleted that partition.

I understand that you have Linux Mint on SD1 and Windows on sd2. You accidentally deleted SD1, however, the entry (Linux Mint) is still displayed in Grub Boot Loader?

Your installation is too complex. I will suggest: 1. Take back up of your data before proceeding 2. Boot from Linux Mint flash drive and try "boot repair" 3. Delete everything and install your operating systems afresh.

I did this process over 15 times and it still did not work. I can not get to the boot screen. When I did it kept saying unable to recognize device remove and put back in. Also not sure if I should be using f10 or f12. I tried both and still get nothing. All I want to do is be able to connect to my internet wireless without having to plug directly into the modem. Is there a way to do this without installing windows. This is too frustrating.
@TechSolvePrac4 жыл бұрын
You can connect to wifi in Linux Mint also. Check there must be a button in your laptop keyboard or in side ways to turn on wifi. Then it will be visible in task bar to connect to the available wifi connections.

Generally the choice is briefly flashed on screen when the computer powers on. Enter BIOS/ UEFI setup, turn off secure boot, enable boot from usb option, save settings, restart. Press some function key again to display boot menu (F9, F12, etc...) to display boot menu, boot from usb, install windows and turn on secure boot again. The function keys are different on different make and model of computers, the required key is generally displayed when system boots.
