I updated my x-s20 today and tried it out on some wildlife shoots... it's a night and day difference. Seriously, it is not even close. Until now I always felt that i made the wrong purchase since wildlife turned out to be the thing I like the most but that was the weakest part of the x-s20 and honestly very frustrating. I literally had hours of unusable images. The results were shockingly bad on some barely serviceable on other lenses. This one is actually a HUGE upgrade. The Autofokus tracking now works so damn well, compared to before that I am honestly speechless. It feels like an entirely new camera.

I’m glad to see that you’ve corrected yourself but at the same time I’d suggest deleting that video as that shows up on KZbin search result when searching for XH2s firmware update & the misinformation is going to spread morw without people understanding properly & just keep this video

Hello! Firmware 6.0 broke my xh2s, It literally can't focus, no matter what settings i'm using, i've tested it with fuji 33 mm 1.4 wr, viltrox 13 mm 1.4, fringer ii adapter sigma 18-35, it hunts non stop, it's seriously bugged! They destroyed the cameras autofocus! It's absolutely unusable! Really disappointed! What should i do? We need Fujifilm to patch this firmware asap!!!

@@constantineilev7977 please, report it to Fujifilm, its the only way they notice something is wrong. Im in the same situation and its driving me nuts at the point im never buying a Fuji anymore. AF non reliable neither usable

After intensive testing, I've found that v6 firmware update for x-H2S has made the video autofocus worse. It is definitely not as accurate as before and the AI detection for birds is now useless.

I’m going to update my X-S20 today. I hope it doesn’t mess up anything with 3rd party lenses. I own 3 of them and use them a lot

There is also an issue where if you have the screen facing you and you say click your face to track if you look left the box goes right and if you look right it goes left. Also where you touch on the screen the box goes to the opposite side . I really hope they fix the quirks with the touch the track. It has issues staying where you touch.

This camera with fw 6.0 and xh2 with 4.0 will almost never focus on an eye in afc continuous, stills mode and even video. In afs its ok.

@@PhillipRPeck my experience is the same... got a lot of AF issues, wide, zone, eye on/off... doesnt matter. Lot of clips out of focus in video. Not a professional camera anymore. Hope next update fix anything...

After updating to 6.00 on my h2s, i get lens error on my 80mm in stills mode sometimes with af-c and the lens is struggling to focus and then goes into error and i have to turn off and on again to fix it. Had the lens for 4 years, happened the first outdoor session after the update. It can be a coincidence, but it's unlikely. Something changed.

Thank you for clarifying. Also, interesting to see that the focusing terminology is not universal, how “wide” area in Sony is “multi” in Fujifilm. I am a one-man-crew myself and do lots of run and gun work. I wonder if you believe I could rely on the XH2S’ autofocus. Don’t feel pressured and responsible though for my decision 😄 I’m a Canon shooter (not necessary for brand loyalty). But Im quite tempted by the video codecs and formats of the XH2S as well as the full HDMI output vs the micro one in R6 MII or R7 if I were to get one. Obviously Sony is an option, but if I get the FX30 I will need a photo camera with it and Im not fan of the a6700 ergonomics. First world problems I know…

I guess I can spoil the conclusion of my upcoming video a bit for you. I think the AF can be relied on for talking head setups/interviews but I don't think it's 100% reliable for more dynamic scenarios where you have to track a subject and where you want to shift focus points within a shot. It CAN work, but let's just say the hit rate won't be 100%, you have to be willing to try things a few times. I find that it's a bit finicky about sticking with a subject when it loses eye detect. It's not always quick to shift to head, then body. Also, I think that it tends to hunt a bit when acquiring a subject, so it will focus past the subject then lock on, like it's relying on Contrast-based AF to really confirm.

You are a Canon shooter and want to buy an xh2s??? with all the respects, you are fuc***ing mad bro 🤣🤣🤣 dont do that. XH2s 5.10 firmware was "ok". Not bad, but not 100% reliable. Lets talk about 80% reliable if you compare with a sony. With the last update, 6.00, its 10% reliable. Believe me, stay with canon, especially if you are a one-man-crew. You gonna miss the clips. Video codecs are unusable if all of your clips are out of focus.

This touch tracking is so wonky though. Have you tried sitting in front of the camera and tracking yourself with the screen flipped toward you? Very unusable for me.

Really? That's terrible. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to rollback firmware to an earlier version. Fujifilm supposedly has another round of firmware planned to release in the next few months. Also, have you updated the firmware on the Fringer adapter? They put out an update on April 16, 2024 that I'd imagine is to ensure compatibility with the new firmware releases from Fuji

I really hope Fuji get's their AF dialed in... I have almost switched to Fuji several times, but it always comes back to reliable AF... color science can be corrected in post, focus not so much.

I'll test the 33mmF1.4 WR lens ASAP, but I'm not having issues with the latest firmware... not using adapters and I don't have any Sigma lenses to test.

Did you check your footage? I have fujinon 33 1.4 wr, viltrox 13 1.4, viltrox 56 1.4, sigma 18 - 35, it doesn't matter witch lens i'm using or what settings i'm in!! It's never in focus! the box stays on the eyes or the face all the time, but when you watch it on the computer it hunts non stop and it's never in focus, only indicates that is!!

In the middle of checking both the X-H2 and X-H2s in stills and video… swapping lenses on the X-H2 at the moment because the X-H2s is rigged-up with the 18-120 PZ. I own the 23 and 33mmF1.4 LM WR, 16-55 and 50-140mm F2.8 LM WR, 56mmF1.2 WR(portrait duties, only!), and the aforementioned 18-120 PZ… have access to the “Fuji-cron” F2.0’s, etc. I do not have any Sigma glass yet and have no plans to use any Tamron or Viltrox offerings. Yesterday’s subject wasn’t ideal(Bengal cat), but I put the stills in Capture One and they are in focus… I captured some video this morning of the same hyperactive subject with the X-H2s and will look over the clips tomorrow.

Thank you so much for updating your previous review, this inadvertently corrected some of the "haters" misconception about the latest update 6.0 for X-H2s. Although I do not own a X-H2s yet, since I'm planning to get one, I am very interested in real users' experience. Something I noticed when I went back to watch the X-Summit announcement, I kinda felt the focusing issue has something to do with the new Wide/ Tracking Mode. And now you have confirmed this. Thanks so much. 👍👍🙏🙏 No wonder there has been no reaction from Fujifilm so far - user error... Additionally, just want to say, recently I see so many "new" Fujifilm camera users asking very basic usage questions, when the answers are actually right in the manual, but they're too lazy to read it, or sticking to the old macho attitude of - i don't ever read the manual. 🫤
