I've got my Sony Xperia 5 II a couple of months ago and I don't see too much difference with the Mark 3. Apart from the microprocessor and the new camera hardware, which are not critical for me, I don't see too many reasons for upgrade. I hope the new camera app is updated in Xperia 5 II though. Maybe people with the original Xperia 5 or older Xperia models can see a huge difference 👍

Great review as ever Chris. I have the mk ii at the moment don't think I would change. If they had put wireless charging on it and fixed a few of the other niggles I have (auto brightness jumps around a lot, signal strength not great, touch sensitivity issues using gesture back key particularly bad with screen protector) then I may have gone for it. I don't game so the heating on the 888 would not be a big concern to me

I've been using the Xperia 5 for the past year and thoroughly impressed with it as an all round phone. Especially for media, gaming and camera functions. It has definitely restored my faith in Sony phones and at this rate my next phone will most likely be another Xperia.

Same here, bought my Xperia 5 early 2020 and just ordered the Xperia 5III (Both Imported as they don't sell them in Australia). not having the real-time tracking is annoying, hopefully the object tracking is good enough.

How is it still holding up?
@abu2692 жыл бұрын
@@coreeman101 Still using it, but looking to upgrade in the summer. The phone is still going strong, very close to stock Android UI experience. No lagging, still performs well, camera is brilliant once you get the hang of it. The only downside is the battery life isn't as good as it was even though I activate battery care mode. But I'm definitely shortlisting the Sony Xperia range for my next upgrade. Most of my family have iPhones and Samsungs but I honestly do prefer my Xperia for a better all-round experience.

@@victorrumyantsev3718 Sony is definitely for a certain niche. And Sony knows that.
@commentarysheep3 жыл бұрын
@@victorrumyantsev3718 Sony phones at least were trustworthy to me. No false advertising of camera features (like how I got duped into buying the Exynos version of the S10e because everyone reviewed the Snapdragon 855 version on KZbin with the better processing algorythms and with the Sony sensors) or with the promised timeframe for software updates (like what Huawei did to the P9 and almost to the Honor 8) and no benchmark score sorcery behind the scenes, like with Huawei, Samsung or OnePlus. What you see on a Sony is what you get with a Sony. Aside from them, really only Apple and Asus make small phones nowadays and don't even expect a headphone jack or expendable storage on your Apples and Samsungs. And Sony's camera software has been SIGNIFICANTLY improved over the years to shoot sharp photos and videos. I've been duped so many times by other Android manufacturers that because I don't like the "walled garden" approach of Apple, really the only choice I have to keep the small form factor, the headphone jack and Micro SD expandibility alive is by going back to those Sony phones I once adored. I know I have to work my arse off in tandem with university, but I'm sure it's going to be worth it for an excellent compact flagship from a Japanese company whose name on a smartphone guarantees longevity.
@mcgonagallerys3 жыл бұрын
@@victorrumyantsev3718 me lol I'm not a fangirl by any means, I'm using a Xiaomi phone currently and I love it, but the good thing about Sony flagships is that after a while you can find them for really cheap on Ebay, the 5II is going for 350 pounds refurbished at the moment. That's an amazing price for a flagship from last year, half the price of a refurbished S21. Plus it has an headphone jack and sd card slot, and I like that the camera has so many options to thinker with it close to a real camera, it will be useful for me to learn photography. I don't really care about any of the things you mentioned a part from maybe low brightness in the sun. Wireless charging is fun for the first few times you use it, then you notice it absolutely destroys your phone battery so not worth it
@thediamondcutter91853 жыл бұрын
@@victorrumyantsev3718 Overheating was an issue on the Z5, a phone from 6 years ago. This Dated Design at least is different by the copypasting done by Chinese Brands. 4000mah are more than enough for a phone. Wireless Charging has been proved to ruin batteries so good that they don't have it. 3D Face Unlocking... who cares? There's that rad fingerprint reader on the unlock button, something not many phones use in favour of that horrible back side reader. Crappy Selfie Camera? It looks anything but shit to me but hey, be my guest on that. I don't want to fight or be harsh but you seems like you're blindly hating.

Sony should make an exact equivalent of this phone, but with a larger screen, around 6.7inch diagonal. Or, even better, make a 16:9 or 18:9 display version for us people who don't like so much the stretched 21:9 display. Other than that, Sony is doing pretty well in all other areas. Love the metal glass sandwhich design (Shame on Samsung for ditching it), keeping of the useful features (top/bottom bezels - though I wish we still had some slim physical home button + capacitive buttons on the chin), MicroSD card slot, 3.5mm jack, classic shape flat rectangular display - awesome stuff.

So it's hard choosing between those 2 phones... but I really want to get rid of my S10, I've had enough of Samsung custom UI and menu's, non working casting to my Sony TV, and I had a non working Google assistant also, but that's fixed with a factory reset luckily.
