Huawei P Smart 2019 vs Honor 8X | Side-by-side

Comparing the Huawei P Smart 2019 side-by-side with the Honor 8X - two of the best budget smartphones of 2019. Here we review both mobiles based on their camera tech, specs, performance, battery life and more, to see which is best for you.
The new 2019 model of Huawei's P Smart handset (priced at £199) boasts almost identical hardware and software to the Honor 10 Lite, hence I left that phone out. Instead I thought a better comparison would be with the Honor 8X, which also boasts a budget UK asking price (£230), would be more useful.
Honor's 8X is one of the greatest value devices right now, with a mighty 6.5-inch screen, solid dual-lens camera, Kirin 710 chipset and a big 3750mAh battery. The Huawei P Smart 2019 is smaller at 6.21-inches but still sports a FHD+ IPS screen, along with the same Kirin platform - but less memory than the Honor 8X. There's also no expandable storage.
Both phones can shoot great-looking night photos, and record up to FHD resolution video with those dual rear cameras. Battery life is also excellent, although the Honor 8X can outlast the Huawei P Smart 2019 thanks to its larger battery.

I came from iPhone 7 plus to the honor 8x no regrets, I got £375 for my iPhone got the 8x on amazon for £210 so pocketed lots of change and in my eyes a better phone

android is easy better than apple os anyway. in the past i came from a apple SE (faster than the 6 but same hardware, faster due of smaller screen). Wanted to buy an android budget phone as im it'er i like to mess with my OS instead of waiting for hacked Apple OS. Anyway.....i picked up the Honor 6x for 200 dollar. The apple came new for 700. The honor 6x did everything i needed if not better or more expanded and acces. I still use it today, never used my apple anymore even tho its camera is superior to the honor. I need a new honor or huawei but the honor6x kirin 655 is still going strong as hell. Held the p smart (+) in a store, feeks very solid and nice.

Nice review, Tech Spurt. I was just looking because my new Huawei P Smart 19 is arriving later today. I've had the Honor 8 for the past two years and, been really impressed with it. It's never given me a single problem even though I have dropped it multiple times. It's cracked and, scratched. This is the first time I've completed a 2 year contract with my phone not being in pristine condition. I blame the smoothness of the casing for this. This time, I think I will get a cover. I've never used a cover in the past. I just got my wife the iphone XR and, I'm getting this. I'm just anti Apple :)

its the stupid hype of that year. the phones are very fragile in lot of brands. a nice soft silicon back sleeve will already be enough and wont destroy the size

I've always had top-of-the-line phones for various reasons, but I bought the Honor 8X several months ago after a bit of research and it's easily one of the best phones I've ever owned, and I can't imagine ever spending $1000+ again on any phone. It blows my mind how Honor can even produce such a slick piece of technology for such a low price; it's brilliant to look at, a pleasure to hold and use and surprisingly scratch resistant, and even the camera is surprisingly good in this class of phones. My only gripe is the notification set-up on this phone; it's there but barely noticeable imho; I do wear a smartwatch most of the time, which makes notifications less of a problem, but without that it's a joke. Now I should mention that prior to the 8X I've had several Motorolla top-of-the-line phones, and nobody beats the Moto motion/notification technology, nobody as far as I can tell. I truly miss the ability to wave my hand to wake and check the screen anytime, the twist motion to activate the camera instantly, the chop motion to turn on the torch light or the ability to ask the phone pretty much anything via verbal command at a distance when it's just laying around, or the fact that it keeps showing a ghostly image of whatever notifications might have arrived. Anyway, the 8X is a fantastic phone in it's price range for sure but I'll probably be heading back to the Moto camp for the reasons listed above since the features I miss seem to be proprietary to them exclusively. We'll see, but meanwhile I'm enjoying the 8X. Cheers

@@sartajahmed5770 with a 3,400 mAh battery, the P smart 2019 can easily last over a days constant use and more than 16 days on standby. What's really great is the ultra power saving mode which basically shuts down all backgroud apps and limits the display to provide you with an extra boost in battery life. Also just to let you know the P Smart 2019 runs on the latest Android 9 (pie) and System EMUI version 9 (newest version) and has 3 gigs of ram so it's very quick and snappy. It also has 64 gigs of rom, cloud storage, expandable storage via SD card, dual sim, aux port, USB type A (micro USB), waterproof, dustproof, dual camera and an all screen display. So in my opinion it's a really great phone and probably the best value for money. So yeah, I'd definitely get it.

personally. p smart (+) . they all kinda same ballpark. The kirin710 . Go to a hardware store and ask to hold em, ull see why the p smart feels nice :). The honor 8x is slightly better but clumsier. It comes to personal preference in the end, im not a fan of that glass stuff personally.

You won't regret the honor 8x tbh I love the phone. Don't get me wrong the camera could be better and the micro USB I don't really like but for the price it's a steal tbh. The p smart for me doesn't look as appealing as the 8x and the camera I think is only a 13mp. I guess it's all down to preferance but I do like my 8x and I came from a Samsung galaxy 😂

That's not to say they don't have dust or water protection but any full immersion contact will void the manufacturer warranty...BUT if you want to call Argos out on it... It won't be the first time they have product descriptions incorrect

I wouldn't take Argos's product specifications for gospel - they've listed incorrect specifications for various technology products for years, for example they also state the Honor 8X has fast charging but it doesn't.
