Thanks so much for update! I am upgrading from a pixel 3 that has served me well, but kept hearing that the newer pixels were mediocre for hard gaming. Not many people do reviews after it has been out for a while, so it was hard to find up to date info. This helped a lot thanks!
@Grrrr3FKAGrrrrGrrrrGrrrr2 жыл бұрын
I've recently discovered your reviews, they're great (I can actually stand watching the whole thing). When you test the Bluetooth it would be great if you could explore what codecs are supported, it's rarely mentioned but vital for anyone who has splashed out on the latest adapters or headphones. If you Google 'does this phone have LDAC?', you invariably find someone declaring that Android 8 and above supports it, or if it has such and such processor it will, it's all b*****ks. Phones always have the option in the developer settings, but you don't know if it works until you try it.
@varunnarain502 жыл бұрын
Definitely wanna test it out yourself if you can. My Samsungs have supported LDAC for a long time but my iPhone’s AAC codec sounds just about the same as LDAC on my Samsung, which is to say, they both sound excellent and full bodied with good instrument separation. My friend’s pixel 6 also supports LDAC but I have no clue how it sounds myself.
@Grrrr3FKAGrrrrGrrrrGrrrr2 жыл бұрын
@@varunnarain50I find AAC to be fine for audio that is already compressed (using iPod or iPad with Qudelix 5K receiver), but with ALAC and FLAC files I notice a big drop in performance compared to a USB DAC connection. With my Samsung tablet LDAC seems a step closer to USB, but only noticeable with FLAC and range is very poor on the 990kbps setting. My choice of phone came down to pixel or Samsung because I care about updates to security and OS more than outright performance. I've ordered a Samsung on sale or return, I'll see how it goes.

I think look out for Bluetooth LE devices in the future as it mandates specific open-source codecs. Hopefully the days of needing to check compatibility are numbered.

The two parts I've struggled with most are the Bluetooth that disconnects a lot, or won't reconnect (happens to me on at least 4 of my Bluetooth devices), and the short battery life, it's usually flat before 6pm for me, around 12 hours after coming off a full charge. I have 4 scans of the same thumb print as it is quite picky and often decides it doesn't recognise me. It occasionally does things like display sensitive content on the lock screen (it's set to hidden). I like the phone but I find it very buggy and frustrating at times. I have to say the battery life has been the only disappointment I've had with this phone. Looking at battery usage it always seems to be related to Mobile Network drain. I've heard there should be a update in June that should help/fix this... hopefully. Besides the battery drain I still love the Pixel 6 pro and has been a great phone. @Benjamin Jagun It is an Exynos chip and modem that are known for QC issues (bad yields) so that extrapolates to some people getting good devices and some getting crapfests. It is not a good look and knowing that the Pixel 7 will also have a rebranded Exynos chip does not enthiuse confidence that things will change. There is a good reason that even though Exynos chips are cheaper than everything else, no other OEM will buy them due to QC. That is why MediaTek has become number one, much higher reliability. Very sad that Google went the Exynos route as the architeture is flawed.

Fingerprint sensor fails "a few times per day"? that's terrible imo, I'm on a, at this point very old, oneplus 6 now and the fingerprint works flawless, maybe 1 misread per week or so, i realize it's not build into the screen thus making it easier for oneplus compared to google. thank you for the review.

Got the 6 pro which I loved at the beginning... especially with the free Bose headphones at launch! However, the build quality is really not up to scratch. My bottom speaker has broken randomly and the customer service is shocking. You have to send you phone away for 10 days to get it repaired and get no temporary phone. They do also give you the option of going to iSmash in the UK but most branches do not fix the Pixel 6 and the ones that do need to order the parts which take 3 weeks. I had an S10 for 3 years roughly and I had 1 problem with it which Samsung fixed by sending someone to my house to fix it. 100% will not buy a pixel again just because of their repair process and subpar build

Same with my Pixel 5, dead pixels in my case, and it took about three weeks as it has to go to Eastern Europe for repair. Mine got caught up at customs with poor communication. I did get a new phone as a replacement so kudos there, but I miss just popping into an Apple Store and getting done sameday.

Does the color really matter if you have a case on the phone - which is the smart thing to do? I can't imagine paying $600 - $1,000 for a phone and not buying a case to protect it.

While I always appreciate your videos, there is one issue with this one. There are many articles out there that confirm that although the Pixel 6 is advertised as 30w with the official Google Charger, it in fact never even hits that 30w limit.

I shifted from my broken pixel 3 to pixel 6. What I missed most is the wide-angle selfie (x 0.07)! Plus, the color of pixel 6 including the display and the photos are a bit dim compared to my pixel 3. Other than these are fine.

Similar design to Pixel 6 with a Tensor chip and downgraded cameras, so Pixel 6 now you can get it for £500 or less seems a better deal than the Pixel 6a will be.

My experience with the phone had been irritating - terrible battery longevity, multiple UI bugs, and audio crackling when recording video. This goes back from the 4 XL before I got the 6. it’s sad to do this but I made the switch to the 13 pro :( battery life was the last straw for me

@@TaureanSmoke Bought the regular 6 at launch. Expected some bugs with a first time chip maker but it was a little much for me. The glitches I experienced were mostly with the finger print sensor...just slow or not recognizing at all, not getting my calls, and it constantly unpairing from my galaxy watch 4. I still have my pixel 5 and my fold 3 but my daily driver is the OnePlus 10. I'm happy I switched off the Pixel 6.

I guess I'm lucky my Pixel 6 works great battery last all day I'm average user and most of all the finger print sensor hasn't been a issue. Software is so smooth to use great simplicity compared to a Samsung Galaxy with it's software on top of Android. To many double features that Android already has for example why I need Bixby when I already have Google assistant. Google Pixel and pure Android is the way to go .

Pro tip, make 2 or 3 fingerprints of each thumb and ignore the prompts regarding which part to scan. Just start getting every single part and angle of each thumb. I did it the day I bought it (it's really just common sense if you don't have an ultrasonic sensor) and it has yet to not recognize me a single time.

Just swapped up from a Huawei P30 for this Pixel 6 (sorta sea-foam spume colour!) the UI is a dream plus very little bulkware make it so damn easy to get around. I'm from the NW England and I speak Spanish, some Greek and Russian and the translation app is crazy smart and helps me out when I went to check that I'm saying the right thing! Camera is another reason why I decided to buy it and the colours are simply excellent, my Huawei was great, but lots of the images came out way to vibrant and over saturated. Exactly right about putting it down somewhere safe coz it's like a bar of soap and will fly of the edge of an uneven surface and take a crash to the ground. It's a phone too, which is a great bonus 👍
@sbatty652272 жыл бұрын
It"s a great phone and the camera is top notch. My only niggle with it is its propensity to unlock itself whilst in my pocket without my fingerprint. Must be missing a setting somewhere.

My P6 has been very reliable since November, I have not had many of the issues I hear about on various forums. I do experience the high network battery drain, but most of the time I am on wifi and get two solid full days out of my phone. I have noticed a bug recently where when I lock my phone, it locks to the lock screen, and then fades to black after 30 seconds. I have also been experiencing a bug where it will sit at the lock screen and not turn off the display after the 30 seconds until I interact with the device or press the power button again. Nothing major, but little use case gripes.
