It really is crazy how as kids we didn’t even realize what a time we were living in. I loved both the Budokai and Tenkaichi series but never thought that as an adult the games would only go down hill after those series and that we would yearn for the series we grew up with to someday return or at least be remastered for current Gen. Here’s hoping that Sparking Zero reawakens the passion of our inner childhood and lives up to and even surpasses the greatness of our childhood 😌

Back when Tenkaichi came out I was like 8 or something and I went to a local store tournament. I'll never forget seeing my dad watch in awe as I absolutely WASHED these grown ass men one after the other😂 It got to the point where they had me face a few of the people I had already beat and after just 1 loss they gave me a participation card and the dude I beat TWICE went on to "win" the whole thing and go on to some bigger tournament. Still salty about that one🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Man, the Dragon Ball Z Budokai and Tenkaichi series revolutionized the franchise of video games in the early 2000s. My brother bought a the Budokai HD collection two years ago and I've been playing Budokai 3 since 2022, until DBZ Sparkling Zero was announced this year. I have DBZ XenoVerse 2 and I haven't finished the game yet since 2021.

Both of them (Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi/Sparking! games) was the pinnacle of Dragon Ball videogames. And I had spent time playing with them and it was fun during my late childhood and teenage years in the 2000s decade.

I’m 27, turn 28 in a two weeks but every time something about Sparking Zero is released/revealed, the kid me comes back out with excitement. Dragon Ball is more special to me now because it’s the last thing that connects me to my childhood so when a continuation to the game series I loved growing up was announced. I almost screamed with excitement in the break room at work 😂 and when the gameplay trailer was revealed at the Game Awards, I literally watched the whole trailer and reactions while on a Forklift…. It was parked tho cuz I had to move a pallet but that had to wait til I was done watching the trailer 😂

Wait wait wait, Budokai 3 introduced button mashing beam and close combat struggles, in the Tenkaichi series since the first one, it was used with the left analog stick, so it came as a weird thing to hear Tech say that it was introduced in Tenkaichi 2 as a NEW MECHANIC… or maybe I’m remembering wrong about Budokai 3…WTF IS WRONG WITH ME? I need to replay the games so badly now since it’s all on my cabinet.

Hey I still love the Budokai 1 graphics! I was a bit disappointed of the GameCube version changing the style and Budokai 2 ditching the original artstyle altogether! I wanted the Buu arc in Budokai 1's style in the Storymode so bad!

You missed the true Budokai 4 - Infinite World. And why stop there, there are Shin Budokai 1+2, Evolution, Tenkaichi Tag Team, Burst Limit, Raging Blast 1+2, Ultimate Tenkaichi, Kinect... that's all "Budokai" or "Budokai Tenkaichi". And there is a widescreen Budokai Tenkaichi 3 mod called Budokai Tenkaich 4, it has the whole storymode with all of Super in it - with english voice acting!
