Sennheiser GSX 1200 Pro Review | The BEST Gaming AMP? Ft. GoXLR Combo!

This is my review of the Sennheiser GSX 1200 Pro! This is probably one of the best gaming amps even if it isn't the best one for all purposes at this budget. I also talk about it how it performs with the HIFIMAN Sundara headphones when hooked up to the GoXLR. Enjoy!

How do you connect the GOxlr with your AMP? A cable from the headphone socket from goxlr to the anp?

So I found your video specifically because I have this amp and a go XLR. My issue is that the way I set it up was Elgato sound capture is putting my game audio to the amp and then I was basically using line out on go XLR so I could hear my voice via the gsx. But it does this really weird mic robot sound. But what you’re saying is that I could feed the amp into the go XLR and still get the benefits of the amp? Like the 7.1 would work the way u daisy chained it? I think I was doing it the other way around

That's correct! Just daisy chain as indicated in the video and you're good to go.

I found your video as I’m looking for a solution to an issue I have. I currently purchased a set of DT990 Pro’s but my current setup seems to struggle with them I have a GoXLR & SM7b. I’m wondering if this will help me boost the DT’s?

The GSX 1200/Pro should offer a boost, but nothing very significant. On the Hifiman Sundaras, the boost was just incremental but good enough.

Hey bro thanks for sharing. I have a question I also have sm7b and goxlr and I find that the quality of audio monitoring isn't the best with goxlr, for example, my Yamaha mg10xu mixer was giving me much better audio monitoring sound where goxlr sounds a bit boxy. So my question is with this amp you talking about in this video would this improve that audio monitoring? thanks in advance for answering.

It’s funny because I also use the MG10XU for recording audio. All that it will do is make it sound louder in that case.

Wont daisy chaining the GSX before the GOXLR eliminate the processing of the GSX? The GOXLR is going to take that 7.1 surround sound engine and convert it back to 2.0 before it hits your ears.

3:08 When it's dimmed is it fully lights off? I don't like that red color but I could stand it for that seconds I use it, but it will glow even a little whole time I could not stand it.

It dims quickly after use and when you can only see the gain number by a bit.

The thing is, the 1200 gsx is 150 ohms with preset eq's where as a different amp can offer better results. The GoXLR can power 250 ohm headphones.

It can power poorly a 259. Ohm headphone. I have the DT990 in 250 Ohm and they are less loud as needed. Goxlr themself wrote it is not perfect and made for 250 Ohm

You are correct though...the GSX in his setup is not actually amplifing anything in order to amplify it would have to be after in the GOXLR in the daisy chain. The GOXLR is actually a more powerful headphone amp. Having the GSX in the chain before the GOXLR is making the GSX a volume control at most. The GOXLR is not an audio passthrough, it applies it own processing so not only is it not amplifing, the 7.1 signal is converted back to 2.0 though the GOXLR. The only surround sound engines the GOXLR supports are virtual ones in Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos.

Just tried to set up my GSX this morning and play some Apex, it sounded horrible. And the software doesnt recognize its plugged in. Got some figuring out to do i guwaa

takes a minute in settings to set it up you have to select the gsx pro communication audio and stereo options as default as well as play around in the properties settings of the DAC on windows it isn't plug and play sadly.

okay, im commenting even before the review started buut. i hapen to have goxlr, i happend to have hifiman sundara v2 stealth. this makes me just feel like i have to buy the gsx 1200 i guess edit. i had to comment that i have rode podmic too :D

Checked the whole video but dont see anything about how you connected the goxlr with the amp. How did you do this and how did you setup in windows? Did you setup as system or the amp on windows sound settings? I have sound blaster, but should be same setup style, and cant figure it out

The audio is strange. Like you arn't speaking naturally. Also a lot of clipping like a problem with the editing and then no pause when a natural pause would exist. It's weird. Sorry to mention it, but the video is about audio. So, it bugged me.
