that task manager report calling the CPU a Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 makes me wonder: was the descriptor change a last minute thing on AMD's part? it can be "somewhat" called a 3rd gen "AI" CPU if you count the 7000 and 8000 series separately, but it's still mighty confusing and intel-like in naming sense...

No more numpad on the ProArt P16... :( That's a *HUGE* deal breaker! I gladly cut down on audio quality. Just give me a numpad, please! The dial integrated in the touchpad is also a weird choice to say the least. What about the GPU? Sadly it tops out at the 4070 again, but what is the voltage and how much VRAM are we getting? Honestly, this model seems disappointing for creators at first sight. I need to update at the end of the year, I was crossing my fingers for the new ProArt, but I'm kinda disappointed. The form-factor is a hell lot worse compared to the 2023 model - at least at first sight. The table, however, is a nice surprise! It's the first decent Surface Pro alternative I've seen in years and that's always very welcome! An integrated kickstand would have been preferable, but I like the solution a lot still. Questions: Is that a new Asus pen? I guess in collaboration with Wacom once more, the grip feeling will be nice like always! What are the pressure levels if it is a new one though? Only 4000 would be annoying! And the keyboard, is it bluetooth perhaps? that would be a nice addition, especially considering the price of the MS flex keyboard. Thank you a lot for this first hand-on mate!

Thanks Chris for the Glimpse of what to come. It's really good to see AMD chips in Asus' high end Ultrabooks and productivity laptops. By the way, this time AMD is going with 4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5C core for their 12 core CPU design. Unlike Intel, Zen 5C corrs are exactly same as Zen 5 but has lower power consumption and die size, due smaller L2 and L3 cache and lower clock speed

It is nice to see OLED displays on IT devices 😍… I wish it would be 1Hz to 120Hz LTPO tandem-stack OLED displays (like Apple M4 iPad Pro) to lower power consumption while also increasing brightness with always-on functionalities, especially on the tablet 😉… Also, a thinner (5mm ish), and FANLESS, very low power tablet, with a display that have symmetrical small bezels all-around, and gorilla armor type non reflective coating (like Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra) with magnetic back would be great to stick on the door of the fridge 😉…
@Techtablets3 ай бұрын
We might start to see fanless Windows laptops in a few years if the new Snapdragon ARM chips really take off and become a thing.
@Techtablets3 ай бұрын
As for the displays some of them do drop as low as 48hz for power savings. But OLEDs are taking over now which is good.
@nicolasdujarrier3 ай бұрын
@@Techtablets I am hoping for for low-power, fanless design for such a long time, and I am also hoping that with more and more companies making ARM SoC for computers (Qualcomm, but maybe from 2025, Nvidia, Mediatek, Samsung,…), there will finally be some fanless ARM SoCs with reasonable performance to design fanless, thin and responsive tablet (that ideally could also be charge wirelessly through Qi2 / Airfuel wireless charging). With a low-power tandem-stack always-on OLED display, it would make great tablet to magnetically attach to a fridge, or any other dock (speaker like Google Pixel Tab,…) to display date, time, family schedule/calendar,…
@nicolasdujarrier3 ай бұрын
@@Techtablets Yes, OLED technology open new technical opportunities, like LTPO 1Hz always-on functionality, and tandem-stack to lower power consumption. Also some sensors could be integrated either below the display (ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, 3D FaceID, Metalenz polarID,…), or directly inside the display (Samsung organic photodiode inside each cell)… All those technologies probably need a bit more time to mature, but in theory, it seems technically possible to have a device with all those technologies sometime between 2025 and 2030.
