he lack of this aspect of “Organizing” has kept me for years from being able to organize my photo’s, I so grateful that you published this. I have 9,000 pictures. Pretty difficult to recall what was ordered in 4x4, or was it 4x6. So now I can do one year at t time, and not order doubles, or put the same picture on 3 pages. Thank you, thank you. Mary

Really well done. I was very frustrated that I didn't know what a smart album was, and now I see how great it works. I am going to start organizing my hundreds (who knows, maybe thousands) of photos and get that satisfying feeling he was talking about when you see the numbers go down. Thanks!

David, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for this tip! I am so glad that you showed us a great way to organize photos without having to buy yet more utility software to accomplish what can be a daunting task of organizing photos. I have been wrestling with this for years! This makes my day! As for the technicality of your video, you are speaking clearly, enunciating well, speaking at a rate that makes the video enjoyable to watch (not speaking hurriedly) and you explain each step very thoroughly! You did a *great* job here. A '10' ! :-)

Thanks again David for such a clear explanation of a complicated feature. Read many references to Smart Folders but never understood their use. Received a new MacBook Pro as a gift and immediately upgraded it to Mojave. Bought USB port adapters so I could, hopefully, view the thousands of photos/videos on 4 external hard drives. Wasn’t sure if they’d be readable as I had them for my PC backups. Boy, was I delighted after your classes taught me how to operate this spectacular computer. The hard drives opened right up and I can just drag and drop them where I want and I can even simply txt or email them if I wish. So now I’ll create a multitude of folders so I can sort as I go

Thank you so much David! You’ve answered a question that’s had me stymied ever since Apple abandoned iPhoto and made a huge mess of my well organized albums when it converted them to Photos. I can’t tell you how frustrating it’s been to try and find a simple answer to how to fix the endless list of ‘rolls’ it imported. Now I think I can finally clean up this mess. I’ll be following you from now on guaranteed.

You are doing an amazing job!! From watching a lot of your videos, you have the ability to make something that looks complicated just be as simple as it’s supposed to be. Not all teachers and instructors can do that. Some just confuse you more... You on the other hand give the ability to us to know that just a little time and effort gives the gains in knowledge and sometimes expertise in things that is normally misunderstood and sometimes features unused or may I say underutilized. You make it sooooooo easy!! Thanks man!!

Anything Apple related what I do is instead of searching all of “youtube” I just search this channel. I know I am going to get the best info that I know I can follow and understand. There are so many channels out there that talk above my head especially the younger generations since technology was taught to them at birth. My generation the internet didn’t come along until after I greaduated from high school. The one question I would like to know about this process is when creating this smart album is this duplicating the images and taking up more of my space and when we move photos in an album does this now mean you have 2 images of this photo since it doesn’t leave your “All Photos” section? If anyone knows the answer to this I would appreciate it. I would hate to create a bunch of albums and in the process loose alot of my storage space too. Thanks David for dummying all this Apple tech stuff down for us. Keep up the good work.

Greatly appreciated the video and the approach. I will definitely try that once I get to that point. What I am trying to resolve now is related. I have over 70000 photographs (possibly 840GB or more) and I am confused by the Library system on my iMAC. I have a 4TB Lacie external drive and a 500GB IMAC and I have 2TB of cloud storage. Ideally I would like to grab all my photos with confidence and store them on the external drive and then apply a method of album creation that makes sense likely separated at a high level by year. But I just unable to tell if I am working with the right library and I am afraid to delete anything. Couple that with a 300GB out of 500GB of storage being used for "system storage" and I am in a pickle. Would welcome any comments on either of those two topics. Keep up the great support.

Dear David Thanks much for your tips, all very good and easy to understand. However, I have come across a glitch when trying to create a smart album. After deleting all my old files, and then a new Folder for a specific year and then a smart album, when I indicate the first rule for range of dates, it works. BUT, when I add the next rule for " Album-is not-any". The original number of photos captured under the first rule, drop down significantly (e.g. from 4000 to 700). It seams like the program continues to detect deleted albums that are not there anymore. I've looked on line, and this seems to be happening to other people too. I would happily sign up for one of your private lessons, but for now, this is the only issue I. would need to resolve. Any advise would be much appreciated. !! I will also happily donate to your fund to expand the business!
