Love how your friend is sticking up for you and exposing who some of these people are in this video. Sometimes a minority of toxic voices can be much more vocal than the over-whelming majority. Some people crave attention and get it through excess negativity. What does that say about them? That's certainly a long time ago. And many of those buildings they built in the 60s-80s are still standing. While the quality is good. They let the outside decay or corrode, leading to dirty and ugly exteriors. Taiwan could be so much more beautiful. I particularly enjoy the old Colonial Japanese houses and Traditional Chinese (Either Ch'ing or early ROC) houses. The Japanese seem to have a habit of tearing down houses every thirty years.

That's the thing with resistors, caps and other SMDs on modern, rather high end electronics like Graphics Cards. If they blow catastrophically within typical warranty periods, they rarely failed "on their own", but is a symptom - of something else gone bad. Troubleshooting that can be a huge hassle if you don't have basically the same equipment as they test the cards with during QC at the factory. So they give you a new or manufacturer refurbished unit for time saving, and ship the faulty item off to the factory or a dedicated repair center with the appropriate equipment. If they find the fault and it's worthwhile fixing, they fix it, replace the fans or the whole cooler assembly, reapply goop and pads, and ship it off to be ready for the next service case needing replacement.

@jackywchen5 жыл бұрын
@@Noman1000 Taiwanese here, she basically said she checked the serial number of the card and this specific card did not have international warranty so Taiwan couldn't take the card. So they needed to take it back to where they got the card from. Then Marco said he got from Australia and they don't have a repair facility there. Now I don't know the circumstances and MSI's policy but this usually happens when the card was bought from a region that is not under international warranty (Normally China, Hong Kong, and Macaw) or got it second hand from a Chinese vendor. The problem card vendor is dealing right now is there are so many fake cards coming out of China where some vendor would take an older generation GTX (ie, GTX450, GTX 460), replace its Bios and serial number so it would appear as GTX960, then sell it on AliExpress, eBay, and Newegg/Amazon's 3rd party vendors. That might be the case or MSI's warranty just got shittier. But repair shops are everywhere in Taiwan/China and it is fairly cheap and turnaround time is faster than the company themselves. So to many of us repairing a video card out of warranty isn't a big deal and some even choose to void their warranty by going to repair shops and replace manufacturer parts with better ones.

9:15 M9 Bad - is memory chip M9, but the 1050Ti only has 4 memory chips labeled M1-M4, so no idea why it would be M9. The 1070 may have burnt components, but more to the point, what burnt them out. Usually a burnt component means something shorted and possibly blown up other stuff as well, only the weakest part will take the full fault. I can fix those faults.
@nogravitas75855 жыл бұрын

For example, Logitech refused to fix my G603 because I bought it second hand, even though the warranty wasn't claimed already and it has 2 years of warranty and hasn't been released longer than 1,5 years. That behaviour really drives customers away from the brand and the perceived image to the public is that you can't really rely on the warranty promised.

@SianaGearz5 жыл бұрын
@@cybercat1531 M is usually reserved for purely mechanical sub-assemblies. The schematic/silkscreen designation for memory ICs would be U (unseparable sub-assembly) and also often applied to MOSFETs in an IC-like package, but most usually MOSFETs carry the Q designation unless they have some kind of extra functionality. M9 is most likely the identifier of the component on the schematic and PCB level that was faulty and needed replacement. During the design process for circuit boards each component is given a unique identifier to both identify them and also for linking when moving from the schematic capture phase to the PCB layout phase. Knowing M9 was faulty they would then look on the Bill of Materials for the PCB to get the components detailed information. Hope this explanation helps.

That doesn’t make much sense though, because the resistor is like $0.001 and takes 5 minutes max with a basic SMD hot air and pair of tweezers with unskilled labor. I don’t know why they wouldn’t try the easiest and most simple repair there is and just see if it works. I’m not saying they don’t toss them, just saying it doesn’t make sense to me. You just check it with a meter and see if it checks out. With thousands of components with even 0.000001% failure rate, it’s very likely it could just be that one small thing for lots of the cards (if it’s MOSFET, then it’s probably toast....). Or they go the Apple route and say they are too incompetent to even change a battery, which I’m pretty sure a 5 year old could be trained to do, so basically they are a “service center” that says, “just buy a new one!”

I'm curious if those faulty graphics cards are opened once before because there are repair centers that doesn't accept stuffs once it's opened. (Like the stickers on the screw, missing.)
