My University's surplus store sells these without a HDD for $53 USD. I used to buy them, clean them, change the thermal paste, add a cheap used 250 gb WD blue, install windows, and do the Windows 10 optimizations from your video. Then I would sell them for about $150-200 USD. I flipped like 15 before I got bored of doing it. Most of my buyers were pc gamers who were going to add 1050 Tis. In case anyone was looking to upgrade these HP 8200, 8300 or 800 G1 computers with something like a 1060 6GB the mobo has proprietary psu connections but I used a psu adapter with these three models. The PSU is non standard atx so if you upgrade the psu you'll ether need to drill new holes in the case or do some other modification to get it to stay, or just lay it flat or upside down. Look in the review section, where I detailed the simple modification you will need to do the cable for it to work with these systems. Cable: amzn.to/2hkdl5a

This is exactly what I'm working on currently. I bought an Optiplex 790 with an i7 2600, 4GB ram, 500GB drive and Windows 7 Pro COA off of ebay for $137. I've already got a EVGA 600B psu and an extra 4GB of ram from a previous build to go in it. Now I'm waiting for Cyber Monday to see if I can grab a GTX 1060 6GB for a good deal! After buying the 790 off ebay though I found an Optiplex 9010 with the same specs except it has an i7 3770 for $95 on my local Craigslist. Oh well.
@pas3pas3657 жыл бұрын
I understand they're expensive right now, however I'm in no hurry so I'm waiting for a good deal to come around. The other thing I have to consider is the placement of the SATA ports on the Optiplex boards restricts me from getting a longer card like a 970. You got a great deal on those parts! I picked up a MSI 960 4GB card for $125 several months ago, so your 970 deal was pretty sweet.
@pas3pas3657 жыл бұрын
I agree on the Optiplex prebuilts! I ran into problems putting in a GTX 660 reference card before. Even tried using a right angle sata connector to no avail. It could be solved by cutting the plastic shroud on the cooler of the 660 but didn't want to go that route. I'll definitely take a look a hardware swap! Thanks for the tip!

In the US, its pretty easy. $80 for an i5 2400 build, and about $150 for a GTX 970 or $190 for a GTX 1060, and a PSU on Newegg for $20-$30. My friend bought a PS4 (not the PS4k, the regular one) for $250 because he said he couldn't afford a gaming PC. That day I checked, and for $250 I could get a new CX-600w PSU, the 970, and the i5 build (only 6gb of ram though). I showed him that and was like, crap.... Yeah, now he has to pay that console subscription garbage, and we all know Steam sales will pay for that computer if you buy a bunch of games.

I guess. I get a 60 to 75c improvement with phase (-35c loaded block temp to -55c no load), but deliding and getting a 20c improvement is a LOT cheaper! If you add in the "big beefy cooler", that may well give you another 30c difference, so we are comparing now 50c improvement with delid and big cooler, or 60-75c with a $1800 cooler. Is it that big of a difference? I'm thinking that's kind of close...

this is a really cool idea for a SUPER budget PC for people who may not have the standard 500 - 600 for a entry to mid level computer, personally i think you should test it with an overclockable Motherboard and that 1060 and show side by sides of how they differ when you use slightly better parts, more the memory speed but even if you could get your hands on a 2600K too! i love these kinds of builds. its fun to see what you can do with old parts mixed with new. everyone thinks you need to spend $1000 to get good preformance on a PC and end up sticking to Console. never have they been SO wrong :)

Clash With Swap just use fraps or another osd that shows fps and mess with the settings and see what works best for what you want. Start with medium preset or something like that and work from there. Any anti aliasing will decrease performance a good deal. Good luck.

the best thing to do is to play around with the system yourself try different settings just play around a bit thats what i do remember the higher the graphics settings the more stress you put on the GPU the more you lower the settings the more stress you put on the CPU so u try to mix it up a bit depends what gpu and cpu u also have

it is possible for you not to see a single thread pegged to 99% and still be cpu bottlenecked.The cpu usage includes time waiting for data from ram(its not just cpu occupancy).This is just the windows scheduler shifting the thread to other cores and afterburner not updating fast enough.If you want to see usage properly you need a software profiler like Vtune amplifier. Enjoyed the video!
@Gripen907 жыл бұрын
Low CPU usage in msi afterburner doesn't mean a game is unoptimized. Actaully you want a fairly low cpu usage in games because it means more cpu overhead ressources. If you get close to 90~100% cpu usage that means your cpu is maxing out and really hasn't much spare horsepower. AdoredTV latest video about core i5 makes good explaining of this. As for GPU usage that you want to be be near max because, the gpu doesn't handle the operating system and background ressources like a cpu does. The gpu should only concentrate of graphical displaying.

The specs I used are - Pentium G4400 @3.3GHz MSI GTX 1050 OC Asus h110m-D 4gb ddr4 1tb HDD 500w EVGA 80+ PSU Now this runs a lot of games very well, but I only have 4gb ram. I'm waiting till Black Friday to try pick up an extra 4gb stick since Rams so expensive as you know. What I wanted to ask was what would you upgrade in this build? ( apart from ram ofc ). Pentium is only a dual core with 2 threads and I know that's bottleneck, but what CPU should I upgrade to on this mobo? I believe I can flash the bios or something to support Kaby lake as well. I'll be upgrading within 8-9 months CPU, the pentiums just to get me bye. Thanks!

the non overclockable i7 2600 can actually be over clocked. Mine is running at 4.2 GHz on all four cores. you really should look into this or even make a video on it there really isn't a lot out there on this.

I got two i7-2600 systems for just 150 dollars total, was it worth it? Both have 4GBs of ram? As always nice video, good build.

Wally worlds "wal-mart" that is black friday flyer came out and there is an HP pavilion gaming computer for 499. with an i5 7400, 1 terabyte hard drive, 8 gigs of ram and a GTX 1060 the closest one i could find on hp was this HP Pavilion 580-052na Power Desktop costing about $950 but it only has a GTX 1050 2 gig version what are your thoughts on this if you also get the the 32 inch samsung curved screen 199 and the razor 4 piece gaming mouse keyboard headphones and mouse set 99 seems like a nice setup for 799. i priced out one with similar specs and was still around 750 computer only no screen or other peripherals ....

I make my gaming PC from same HP 8200 but my CPU is i5 2500...I just add more RAM(16GB, this is MAX for this MOBO) and ASUS GTX 750ti OC Edition, I hope will change my 750ti with one 1050ti soon. The problem on this MOBO(from HP 8200) you can't change PSU...you need use one specific 6pin+4pin, also have no USB 3.0, CPU soket is 1155 but you can't change CPU cooler with biger...the hole on MOBO is also specific.

I've got the same system but with a G1 Gaming GTX 1060 6GB instead and 12 GB of ram at 1600 Mhz. I can always get on High settings 75 FPS AAA games on my ultra-wide 2560x1080 with only a few exceptions like Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed type games which are closer to around 60 FPS. The card I picked up second hand but only 3 months old for AUD 250 from some insane drifting guy who likes to burn rubber and money on the gold coast. He likes to play 4K racing games using paddle and wheel so he upgraded and was very disappointed at the improvement of the GTX1080 at 4K over the G1 Gaming GTX 1060 6GB. I originally had 4GB ram and an AMD bulldozer which sucked but managed to pick up a Z type mobo with 8GB ram and an i7 2600k for AUD 180. FYI Computer Alliance at Mt Gravatt is currently selling LG ultra-wides for $299 on an e-mail deal, first time I've bought a monitor in almost 8 years! So happy with it now for $730 I've upgraded to something I love!

Could you do a video on overclocking locked CPU's? You can definitely do something to make them run faster, I just don't know what.

125% on p limit Pascal is pushing it? Whats the VRM heat getting too ? Over 90c is slow death yep ram oc's are a good boost people overlook i always get the next higher ram speed modules than base. So 1333 get 1600

A Unigine pass doesn't prove stability. You should run it through 3dmark and at least 30 minutes of heavy gaming before deciding that it's stable.

Awesome rig, I actually love the idea to go for low budget yet powerful systems. Is there any chance you can try VR with these low budget systems at some point too? I actually plan to building another small rig that friends could use when they visit me, also to play VR with another HMD I plan to pick up also.

When I hunt for second hand all-in-one builds, I usually look for ones that have quite good cpus. I just need to add a new gpu into it, but most of the time the PSU does not have the connectors and/or is too low in Watt

*Tip for newbies* If you using afterburner for first time dont mess with voltage... If you will put it too high you can do serious damage to your pc.

forget about the graphics card and sound card and go with a AMD FM2+ motherboard and a A10-7850k and 256GB of DDR3 RAM and your Hard-Drive and Light-Scribe Blu-Ray rewriter and put it in a LD PC-V10 case with integrated Phase Change Cooling system installing the APU per the instructions that come with the LD PC-V10 and that's it and your APU will be kept as COLD AS ICE.

I think that bottleneck you found in pubg might be same i experienced in one game on my 2500k. If that's the case, faster memory would not fix it, at least fully. I overclocked my 1600mhz ram to 2133 and there was still bottleneck where i had cpu and gpu power still left. But that was on different game, so not sure if it's same on pubg.
