Teco VSD / VFD failure

There is an occasional fault with the Teco E510 VSD that we sell with some of our products where the Potentiometer fails. This shows how to rectify the fault, and how to workaround it while waiting for the replacment parts to arrive.
If you have any doubts about this repair, speak to a licenced electrician, or a qualified electronics repair person. Always follow the instructions in the manual supplied with your VSD.

Teco Australia apologies for the inconvenience and is aware of this matter and has addressed it to the factory quality control team; root cause analysis has been done, and as a solution, the VSD assembly process has changed. This change in the assembly process has resolved this problem; we haven’t seen any more cases related to this issue. The 510 series drives are excellent and reliable, with confirmed performance in all industry sectors.

Is the potentiometer stuffed or the whole board?

It is just the potentiometer, but as it is a soldered connection, it is easiest to replace the whole board with pot connected.

Does the replacement permanently fix the problem or is it the exact same part and will eventually fail again?

I'm putting in my second pot/ board now.. so seems like it's a temp fix but Jacek has been great in getting the part to me with no hassles.

its the same typre of POT so I guess it is prone to happen again. I believe changing to a wire wound POT is going to be a better solution. Ive had very few repeat failures.
