Nice little radio, I like the dimensions of it. Looks like your build time was good too !

My hx207. I killed 2. Then giving up on the third...almost. I herd a small gasp. I snached it up and went thrugh the solder joints and tuned the cans, then the variable tuner. Trimmers. I now get about 6 stations at night. But is my pet now running happly on Ni metal hydride cells. Now I'm lookin at a 2p3

Great video, I have watch the first video where you began the build, I watched the video 3 times and learned a great deal, I am going to try to build the Tecsun 2P3 and If I have any questions, may I contact you? You did a nice job on this project.

I build mine but no sound is there any reason it is not working I done a great job on it

I've restored over 200 radios and rebuilt a 1947 Motorola WR-8 wireless phonograph. I've successfully built other inexpensive Chinese radio kits and the 2P3 is a DIFFICULT build. There are three critical bridges on the PCB that must be soldered to complete the circuit, which is, IMHO, a BAD idea. The volume knob soldering is difficult also, as one must vertically connect and glue a PCB part at 90 degrees to properly support connect and position the volume pot. I never could get mine to work and after digging it out again I am reminded again why I put it away. My dollars worth-John in Texas

Is there another assembly video from the cost one ,you were not done on the first video so is there three or two videos
@Boozion7 жыл бұрын
Hey there dude. I just bought one of those 2P3'S too. Got it on Monday labor day weekend. I love the layout of the components in the box. Almost don't want to build it and, just keep it in the box for display lol. I will check out your amazon link. Cool vid. Cheerz. Take care. :-)

It was a fun build. I ended up having to follow the testing section a few times to get it all working correctly.

So... How does one go about picking up number stations and pirate radio stations? I have a PL-880 and have not had any luck so far...
@HamRadioCrashCourse7 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Zedalis a lot depends on your geographic location. If you go on lone you can search "active pirate stations".

Does it go up to at least 1650?

I have an old Atari that I can't get to work. Is that something you would be interested in looking at?
@HamRadioCrashCourse7 жыл бұрын
As in you want to send me an Atari? Or you want me to fix it for you and send it back? Most likely, Its cheaper to find another working Atari then fix a broken one.

how hard would it be to put in a BNC connector instead of the included internal antenna?
@HamRadioCrashCourse7 жыл бұрын
The internal antenna had six solder points for all the coils. I am not sure where you would tap into that to add a BNC connector. That is beyond my skill I must say.
@mohinderkaur66716 жыл бұрын
not easy to remove internal ant as it has the coil. best way is to put 1 turn coil on internal antenna ferrite rod and connect to bnc.
@SarahRWilson6 жыл бұрын
I would use a SMA or some other kind of small connector. As for an antenna "tap" into the circuit, a few turns of wire around the ferrite bar would get you there. The ends of course would go to whatever connector you're using. Since this sounds like it has a really hot RF section, I'd start with about 6 turns, and adjust as needed.

This radio isn't that hard to build. Those other Chinese kits with Chinese instructions and different parts then whats in the schematic are harder. This one has to be the best AM kit radio on the market though. You really do get a nice product and something you can be happy with once your finished with it. I had allot of fun building mine.

I agree, I often reach for my Tecsun over other WAY more expensive radios. Its quite a good performer.
@stridermt2k6 жыл бұрын
IMO Get some old junk to practice on. De-soldering/re-soldering components from an old board will quickly give you a feel for how the solder and components will act, so that by the time you are ready to attempt your radio build it will all feel more natural. 73! N2NLQ

Dumb question..... So what does short wave do? What do you listen to with it?
@HamRadioCrashCourse7 жыл бұрын
Its a frequency band that when transmitted can be "bent" around the earth using the ionosphere. The frequency is short than that of AM (Medium Wave). Many countries run radio stations that serve world-wide audiences. Many communist countries for instance have SW radio stations that put out propaganda and generally slanted news. SW is where you hear Number Stations and some pirate radio stations. Also, SW is where HAM radio stations transmit but usually on Single Side Band, which requires a special radio, the TECSUN PL-660 is one such radio so you can listen to regular stations and SSB transmissions from HAMs.
