We have a very interesting test here. Congratulations on the video! I had all 3 and sold them, but at different periods except for this Eton who I didn't even know. Today I'm mostly using Internet Radio, a portable one from Ocean, which is very good as it has reception on more than 25,000 stations broadcast by Skytune, but I'm thinking about purchasing a SW again to listen to amateur radio. The PL 990 is in a much higher category not for reproduction but for pre-existing features such as MicroSD card reading, and pairing only to receive an external signal via Bluetooth. Maybe it has an internal construction with better components. But he doesn't have the airband. The PL 660 has the air band but is a well-built radio but the sound is louder and more strident. The Xdata 808 is a simple construction with a much more affordable price, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It fulfills the proposal very well with a big advantage over the PL660. It uses a lithium battery and that makes all the difference in terms of practicality. I'm seriously inclined to buy an Xdata again for this reason.

I own a Tecsun Pl990X and the XHDATA D808. And the only thing about these two radios is that the PL990X is tuning like an analog radio. Not like the D808 which has a short shutting off of the sound also called chuffing while tuning which the Tecsun PL990X does not have! But I highly recommend both the Tecsun PL990X and the XHDATA D808!!!

In many ways, the PL-990 is an analog radio, a triple conversion PLL receiver that uses DSP for decoding signals (demodulation, bandwidths), but not for tuning.

@@kwdavids1 But you know what İ mean with the chuffing while tuning through freqs on the D808! Thanks for the reply! 73's!

@@MAGNETAR-187 Oh yes. I know about chuffing.

The reception of AM, SW, and FM is good with 990 since its sensitivity and selectivity are excellent. SSB and CW reception were equally impressive. XHDATA D-808 and ETON Elite are ultralight portable radios, been a great choice for taking with you wherever you go, as it's lightweight and small in size though reception capability won't match with Tecsun PL 990. PL-660 is a PLL synthesized receiver that works well (without DSP) which still works well as long you are not within EMI and LED light-flooded area.

CFRX can be weak in the afternoons, but much better later in the day.

Testing which radio performed best in this analysis, because perhaps in the recording we don't have the real perception?

Similar results. Tecsun 990 is a bit muffled, Eton is noisy and it has poor reception, XHDATA is noisy too, Tecsun 660 has the best reception in this test, but the sound is not clear.

Sir one question debating two weeks by now pl990x or pl880 wich one to buy???Cheers

I owned both. I sold the PL-880 and kept the PL-990. One very important reason is PL-990's ability to use the external antenna jack for MW/LW. Only the PL-990 synchronous tuning works. I also like the front panel switch to control the display light. Both are very good radios.
