This is something that only works in context, a room full of punters waiting to see a band, suddenly a bloke shows up just saying jokes. Not telling them, just saying them. It's never going to be as funny as it would have been in that room at the time

Same vein as Jack Dee, Bill Bailey.... essentially it's anti jokes. Or repetition of the same joke with different punchlines. If you get it, you will howl with laughter, if you don't you be like Comedy without errors and not get anything.

I think it was the tube it may have also made OGWT. It's the stunning lack of charisma that does it for me and the audience reaction. It's just great . I remember going to a party and someone dug out a microphone and did this set. Some of knew why it was great but most of the others there were ....WTF
@Nogli3 жыл бұрын
It was Whistle Test. It seemed to be his goal to prevent people from laughing. He had a couple of Dad jokes, but he would always embellish the punchline to be a total mess, like putting "couldn't be too sure you know" at the end of the "one mile" joke, and carrying on talking about how the man had a good time in Cheltenham. He ends it all like he's telling a true, unfunny story.

Apparently, the well-known misanthropic stand-up comedian, Stewart Lee, actually persuaded Ted Chippington to pack in his both safe and regularly paid lorry driving job, and return to the comedy circuit as a supposed comic.

I don't know what's happening The room is dying His jokes have no rhythm and he has no stage presence or delivery. Literally what I find funny is his will to just carry on regardless like he's delivering the shipping forecast In the worst weather of all time . Totally unaffected emotional stance even while people are booing Seriously I can't fathom it . Stewart Lee was inspired by this guy. .. that seems very surreal I did love frank sidebottom though and im getting a similar vibe .
