I absolutely love Teds honesty and truths about his wrestling career! Ted could you please come out with some T-shirts that your fans could buy?

I think pain management and taking what you need to feel relief from pain when in a line of work like professional wrestling should be tolerated and accepted as long as they aren't going into the ring high out of their minds and making it unsafe for someone else. They're on the road nightly, taking bumps every night in the ring, trying to make it to the next venue, trying to stay in the game while injured. Damn right it should be expected that they might need something to get through. And after the matches, camaraderie on the road and getting a buzz on together is just something that happens and to a degree, shouldn't be frowned upon whatsoever in my view. These men and women leave their families for weeks and months on end, they're in different hotels every night. All they have is each other and I can totally understand the feeling of wanting to kick back and be one of the boys. It is what it is. No man is flawless and we ALL need to take the edge off sometimes. I'd be doing the same. Nature of the beast and it doesn't make anyone a bad person or less-than. Adults do adult things sometimes.

Well first of all, a big problem professional wrestling has is that it's not pro wrestling. It's sports entertainment. They don't even try to simulate what a legitimate wrestling match would look like. If they did that, they'd have a better match and not even have to take a 10th of the bumps they take. Another thing is that these guys are told by their promoters to go out there and perform when they are hurt. And they're wrestling with very serious injuries sometimes. So how do you manage that pain? You can't without taking very high doses of these drugs. And then they're all groggy from the dope, so they have to mix in uppers and essentially give themselves speedballs. Really what needs to happen is the wrestlers need to wrestle believable bouts and then on top of it they need to not wrestle as often. If they're hurt, they need time off. "Pain management" is another way of justifying drug abuse.

What people sometimes forget is that pro wrestlers, even those like Ted Dibiase who do make it big ... they worked their asses off day and night to do what they did. Even the top talents worked a brutal schedule that was often 6 or 7 days a week, and in a different town or even state each night. And that was before the fact that although the outcomes of matches may be "fixed" so to speak, it takes a tremendous toll on the body taking those bumps night after night. Even for those like DiBiase who grew up in the business and knew what the life of a pro wrestler was, it was a tough job. For an outsider like myself it would be a complete culture shock and honestly, I don't know if I'd have lasted so kudos to those who stick it out and make it work.

The guys in Ted's day were not taking bumps like the idiots today are doing at your typical indy show (or AEW). Hell, they wouldn't even do half the bumps they do in WWE currently. They were trying to put on matches that were halfways believeable. If you did something like a piledriver to your opponent, he's getting stretchered out of the building that night and not kicking out in 2. Because let's face it, if you did a piledriver to somebody for real, they'd end up like Droz or worse. They're certainly not kicking out and then having a comeback.

@@jd9119 ...unfortunately todays pro-wrestling has become all about wrestlers being able to hit their high spots every match and for mine its become almost like choreographed aerial gymnastics at times. The wrestling I grew up with was what I consider wrestling. It was about telling a story for the fans. These days WWE Creative think THEY tell the story.....

I have smoked so much bud since age 16. I have never seen anyone go into a fit of psychosis after smoking pot. And I mean even after smoking, or dabbing the highest percentages of THC, THCA. Running from 30% in flower to at least 80% in concentrates. I know everyone is different, but I imagine some of these "pot horror stories" are of people who really don't enjoy, or have the stomach for a conscience high. These people like to be drugged most likely. Alcohol, pills(opiods, or benzos) or something else that knocks them out. Stops their mind from moving. And with marijuana being so popular, not cool to say it's not for you. Better to say, "I start hallucinating", or "That shit doesn't do anything for me". Truth is, it scares the hell out of em to be locked in their own mind. Anyway. Love this topic.

After hearing about how much wrestlers abused drugs and alcohol, I'm surprised more of them didn't die early deaths.
