There was something about Charles Osgood's voice that was so soothing and comforting. He was always good at reporting because it sounded more like story telling.

Those were the days. Walter Cronkite Charles Osgood, Ted Koppel, Harry Reasoner, Dan Rather, Huntly and Brinkley, Peter Jennings. These days it's a beauty contest even for male news anchors.

You got very close to hitting 300, because my favorites were all those you saluted as well. Jane does a nice job, sure, but I miss the calibre of the stories on Sunday Morning that were well chosen and well presented by both Charles; Kuralt & Osgood. To this I might add that the program has gone quite a bit to the left, ...And Woke, so that I’m no longer a frequent viewer . And I don’t think I’m alone in my view . Why didn’t CBS , with all the money it has select from its available qualified male broadcasters with so many choices here in NYC and around the country and replace Mr. Osgood with another fine guy ? I might mention the goings on or turmoil that was just settled at ABC when Ken Jennings was made permanent host of Jeopardy , following the late (great) Alex Trebek, who succeeded Art Fleming years ago . Mayim Bialik did a good enough job, but for myself, Jennings just “fits” better than she did, and he was in fact personally preferred by Alex to be his replacement.

Not to be a Negative Nancy, but one of the differences between Mr. Osgood and Mr. Koppel is that while they are both long-time and well-known TV personalities, Mr. Osgood never affected a sense of "I'm a big deal". He was very humble. I'll leave the interpretation of my opinion of Mr. Koppel to the reader.

So weird I’ve never heard of this guy until I put on his interview with David Miscavige’s a couple hours ago, but it was awesome!! N to see this vid just uploaded from CBS a day ago the timing is wild. My mom even brought up how great of a journalist he is n how there’s no one like him anymore.
